Democrats are fueling business-bashing in “red” Sussex County

By Sussex Watchdog

New Jersey lost a third of its small businesses during the pandemic. Institutionally, it’s the worst taxed state in America and one of the least friendly to small businesses. Now, instead of extending a helping hand, local Democrats are finding ways to place more pressure on family and other small businesses trying to make ends meet.

Frustrated by their inability to reverse democratic outcomes in local elections and force elected Republicans to enact their “Woke” agenda, the Democrats who gave us dark money/ murder-for-hire political consultant Sean Caddle are now involved with organizing a list of approved “progressive businesses” in Sussex County and labeling other businesses as worthy of having a brick tossed through their window.

No kidding…

“It is his millions of relationships that will give man his humanity… It is not our ideological rights that are important but the quality of our relationships with each other, with all men, with knowledge and art and God that count.

“Every group on earth that has put ideology before human relations has failed; always disaster and bitterness and bloodshed have come... it aroused in men more hate than love, more concern for their own group than for all people, more lust for power than compassion for human need.”

Lillian Smith
Civil Rights pioneer

Is this what happens when Democrats get together and put their “progressive” minds to work? Bricks through windows???

Democrats are fanning out all over Sussex County and then reporting about businesses as to whether they should belong on the “approved” list… as well as those they think deserve a brick or a boycott or both. Even a young attorney got involved in the effort (while assuring everyone that her business belongs on the “approved” list).

Fights are erupting online over businesses interpreted to have ideological gray areas. Like a bike shop that didn’t want to fly the right flag (Note: we’re not talking the American flag). When the lawyer suggested a bar be included on the approved list, another Democrat activist objected, writing:

“Are you sure about this? (That bar) was on my reject list due to posts last year.”

To which the young lawyer replies:

“They got rid of that owner (partly for that reason)”.

Aren’t we lucky to live at a time when its not your business acumen or professional competence or the service you provide or your product that matters… but rather your posts on social media and how these modern “Vestal Virgins” interpret them?

One Democrat county committeeman and former candidate for Freeholder (who is now using a female name after apparently installing what can only be described as impressive breast implants) targeted the business of someone who didn’t support his candidacy:

“What is his business so I can advise everyone I know to avoid the fascist pos”.

How civil.

The Democrats have got so out of hand that one usually quite radical Democrat begged her fellow “progressives” to be cool…

“I received direct communication alleging that group members are messaging business owners in what is being considered harassing fashion. Please for the love of God, don’t do that.”

Well, at least there is one non-cuckoo in the cuckoo nest. That’s something, anyway.

Is Woke Democrat candidate making a list of local businesses to boycott?

By Sussex Watchdog

Not content with stripping billions away from local school districts, Democrats are now making ideological lists of local businesses that survived the pandemic and the lockdown mandates of Democrat Governor Phil Murphy. These lists are based not on the products or services these businesses offer, not on their pricing and warranties, not even on customer service or retail ambience.

No, the Democrats want to discriminate for and against local businesses based on their active support of things like vaccine and mask mandates, abortion up to and including the day of birth, Critical Race Theory and support for defunding the police, transgendered agenda and LGBTQ+ curriculum, illegal immigration, and Goldman-Sachs/ Tammy Murphy’s plan to use farmland and lakes for solar panels. Take a look at the line-up of hashtags in the post below.

That’s the whackadoddledoo wokeness of corporate Democrats for you. Big “D” Democrats – not little “d” as in those who practice actual democracy. Big “D” as in authoritarian Dicks.

It isn’t enough to have a nice product, in a well-kept establishment, with friendly service… they want to know what you are thinking, and you better identify how you think… or else! And if you are not thinking what they’re thinking – exactly like they’re thinking it – then history shows they will call you names and cancel you, shun you, turn you and your business into a version of the undead. How many poor unfortunates have lost their jobs or income for expressing the “wrong” opinion? And what’s worse, while torturing and bullying people this way, the Democrats will claim “tolerance” and “anti-hate”. Real sweethearts.

And if you don't fly the approved flag, post the approved sentiments in your window, or support the approved candidates???

It's just more divisive woke bullshit.

The candidate is Damaris Lira. On Tuesday, she became the Democratic Party nominee for County Commissioner in Sussex County. So… one of her first acts as the Democrat nominee is to work on a list that categorizes local businesses as “them” or “us”??? Wasn’t this the method used by another political party, in central Europe, nearly a century ago?

And why would any small businessperson vote for a candidate who, as a County Commissioner, would look to favor one business over another? Maybe they would if they knew they were on the approved list – but what if they weren’t?

Woke Democrats (and their go-along-to-get-along, wannabe cousins, Woke Republicans) appear to have one answer to everything – divide and bully. They claim to be representing “marginalized” or “oppressed” groups when it is clear to everyone that those they represent are either directly in power or favored by those in power. But then remember, the worst crimes against humanity have been by people in power who claimed to be acting out their aggression in self-defense.

Gottheimer: Is it okay to call the Editor of NJ Globe a “terrorist”?

By Rubashov

Let’s remember that terrorism is a crime. As Congressman Josh Gottheimer well knows, Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover domestic, as opposed to international, terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act dangerous to human life that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping.”

Now, let’s recall what Bridgegate was all about. Wikipedia explains: “The Fort Lee lane closure scandal, also known as the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal or Bridgegate, was a political scandal involving a staff member and political appointees of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie colluding to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey, by closing lanes at the main toll plaza for the upper level of the George Washington Bridge… It was later suggested that the lanes had been closed intentionally to cause the massive traffic problem for political reasons, and especially theorized that they were a retributive attack against Fort Lee's Mayor Mark Sokolich, a Democrat who had not supported Christie as a candidate in the 2013 New Jersey gubernatorial election. The ensuing investigations centered on several of Christie's appointees and staff, including David Wildstein, who ordered the lanes closed…”

According to the New York Times (May 1, 2015), the School Superintendent of Fort Lee thought Bridgegate was an act of terrorism. Here’s how the New York Times covered it:

Fort Lee School Head Calls Lane Closings an ‘Act of Terrorism’
FORT LEE, N.J. — Hearing that the bridge lane closings were intentionally scheduled for the first day of school made Dr. Paul Saxton, the interim superintendent of the town’s schools, angry all over again on Friday.

Dr. Saxton called the plot “an act of terrorism.” To carry out a “premeditated action designed and targeted toward the kids, what did they expect?” he said in a phone interview after a former Port Authority official pleaded guilty in the scheme.

The official, David Wildstein, told a judge that the lane closings were timed to the first day of school in 2013 to maximize punishment to Fort Lee’s mayor, Mark Sokolich.

The gridlock, which lasted for days, created all sorts of headaches for the school district and for Dr. Saxton, who was starting out as the interim superintendent.

School buses were stuck in traffic, teachers could not get to work, crossing guards failed to make it to their posts. Worst of all, Dr. Saxton said, were the hazards all the distorted traffic posed for the majority of the town’s schoolchildren who walk to school.

“It was a thoughtless, mindless action,” he said. “It’s really disturbing to think that the kids were targeted.”

Now, let’s be clear about something. David Wildstein, the Editor of NJ Globe, is not a terrorist. Why? Because he was never charged and convicted of the crime of terrorism. In America, for the moment anyway, everyone of us is protected by the phrase, “Innocent until proven guilty” by due process, in a court of law.

Apparently, Democrats don’t believe this anymore. At least not the Democrats in Sussex County and, along with them, Democrat Congressman Josh Gottheimer.

The Sussex County Democrats believe they can state, as fact, that someone committed the high crime of terrorism. The Democrats believe that to object to accusing someone of having committed a crime when no conviction has been rendered or even charges filed, and allow us to quote their lawyer directly here, “…is blatantly attempting to stifle open discussion about matters of public importance: the conduct, platforms, and beliefs of those who represent the citizens of our state in election related matters.”

Got it. So, when Josh Gottheimer was accused of sexually molesting a staff member and fooling around on his wife… that would be okay to put in direct mail? At the time, we defended Congressman Gottheimer, not knowing that we were in the wrong for doing so. We had no idea that we were “attempting to stifle open discussion about matters of public importance: the conduct, platforms, and beliefs of those who represent the citizens of our state in election related matters.”

If Bridgegate could reasonably be described as “terrorism” (read the law) and some people (people like the former head of the school district in Fort Lee) have made the accusation that it was terrorism, then is appearing on NJ Globe the same as appearing on a “terrorist” website? Would it be okay to make the accusation that any political figure who ever appeared on NJ Globe is “linked” to a “terrorist” website? Heck, just writing “linked to Bridgegate” would probably be enough. Could you put that in a direct mail piece and feel good about?

Apparently, the Sussex County Democrats, their Chairman Dawne Rowe, and Josh Gottheimer all believe you could. The Editor of the NJ Globe himself appears to believe it would be acceptable. What’s with these people? Could it be the end of “innocent until proven guilty”? It’s a brave new world we’re heading into.

The hypocrisy of the establishment.

Did Sussex Democrat murder-for-hire operative commit vote fraud?

By Rubashov

According to the United States Department of Justice, Sussex County Democrat operative Sean M. Caddle admitted to hiring two men to kill a longtime associate who had worked for him on various political campaigns. A USDOJ press release stated:

Sean Caddle, 44, of Hamburg, New Jersey, pleaded guilty by videoconference before U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez to an information charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire.

“This was a callous and violent crime, and this defendant is as responsible as the two men who wielded the knife,” U.S. Attorney Sellinger said. “There is no more serious crime than the taking of another person’s life. The defendant has admitted arranging and paying for a murder by two other people. His admission of guilt means he will now pay for his crime.”

Caddle faces a maximum potential penalty of life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The murdered victim was Michael Galdieri, the son of the late former State Senator James Galdieri (D). The younger Galdieri was a political operative in Hudson County. The Jersey Journal reported that firefighters responding to a blaze at Galdieri’s home had found him fatally stabbed. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide and investigators believed the fire was meant to cover up the killing.

Sean Caddle is perhaps the most prominent Democrat political consultant living in Sussex County. According to the New York Times, Caddle worked on numerous local and state races, and was a political consultant for Bob Menendez, “collecting nearly $100,000” in one election cycle alone.

Caddle runs numerous political action committees, superPACs, and non-profit organizations. He’s not only worked for some of the top Democrats in New Jersey – but has worked on Democrat efforts all across the country. As one wag put it: “Now we know what top Sussex County Democrats get up to when they are not defaming Republicans.”

Former Senator Ray Lesniak (D) called Caddle “an all-star in terms of being a political operative.” Lesniak admitted to the New York Times that the crime Caddle had admitted to “occurred while they were working together, and that they were still in touch.” According to the Times, Caddle was an expert in “street operations” and in “working to make sure absentee ballots were delivered to election officials.” Lesniak praised Caddle’s skill at “getting out the vote” claiming that Caddle was “the best field director in the country.”

Indeed, Sean Caddle’s skills were employed by Democrats throughout the United States. He was identified in this ABC News report from August 24, 2010:

HOUSTON The Harris County Voter Registrar says he's found thousands of voter applications filed in the last three months which are fraudulent. He calls this an attack on the voter rolls of Harris County.

Harris County Voter Registrar Leo Vasquez's office has pored through thousands of voter registration applications, discovering many questionable filings. Like some which appear to be the same person with the same date of birth filing six times on the same day. And that's not all...

Vasquez said, "We have evidence indicating violations of the Texas election code, falsified documents being submitted to this governmental office and possibly violations of federal election laws."

The investigation found 1,597 instances of multiple applications for the same voter, 1,014 applications for folks already registered to vote, 325 for teenagers who are too young to register and even 25 from folks who admitted on the application they are not even US citizens.

"My office has been forced to expend countless hours and thousands of dollars of taxpayer money trying to sift through the garbage being dumped into our voter registration system," Vasquez explained.

Vasquez says the applications were all gathered by paid deputies with the group Houston Votes. Of the 25,000 applications the group filed in the last three months, only 7,193 were actually for new voters.

Sean Caddle is the director of Houston Votes, which he says is a privately funded organization which signs up voters.

"I didn't do anything wrong. I ran a legitimate program," Caddle said. "What's the motivation behind anyone else? I don't know."

Caddle says he has fired 20 to 30 of his workers as a result of filing these fraudulent applications.

These allegations and the evidence collected by the voter registrar's office will be forwarded to the district attorney's office, the secretary of state and eventually possibly the attorney general's office.

Texas Democrats worked to successfully suppress the voter fraud case, even calling in the Obama administration for support…

According to the Dallas Morning News (September 11, 2014), “Democratic congressmen from Texas have asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate a raid by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s office that targeted a nonprofit voter registration group.”

In a Sept. 10 letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the 12 Democratic House members from Texas asked the Justice Department to open an investigation into the matter.

“This raid raises serious concerns about the biased use of state resources to prevent Texans from legally registering to vote,” the letter said.

…Reached for comment, Jerry Strickland, an Abbott spokesman, said in an email: “If the Texas Democratic Congressional delegation is interested in more than political grandstanding and is genuinely concerned with following and enforcing the law, they should demand the Department of Justice investigate Houston Votes’ illegal activity.

“Houston Votes’ own executive director admitted to attorney general investigators that they fraudulently signed voter registrations and illegally collected information to sell to ACORN-linked Project Vote – that’s precisely the kind of illegal activity the Justice Department needs to investigate,” Strickland added.

…An affidavit by Sgt. Jennifer Croswell offers a different account from what the former executive director of Houston Votes, Sean Caddle, says he told investigators.

For example, the affidavit says Caddle told Croswell he was aware that fraudulent voter registration cards were being collected by canvassers.

But Caddle said Thursday said he did not tell the investigator he was involved in or aware of fraud by canvassers.

“Did I ever sit in a room and say, `I know for sure voter fraud was taking place and I just let it happen?’ No,” he said.

In addition, the affidavit says: “Sean Caddle also stated that per instructions from his supervisor, Fred Lewis, and pursuant to a contract or agreement between Houston Votes/Texans Together Education Fund and Project Vote, he was to transmit the Houston Votes voter registration database to personnel connected to Project Vote in exchange for a financial benefit for Texans Together Education Fund.”

Lewis, the president of Texans Together, the parent nonprofit group of Houston Votes, said Thursday that he handled a planned collaboration with Project Vote, a nonprofit group based in Washington, D.C.

…In their letter to Holder, the Democratic congressmen assert that the Houston Votes investigation is “just the latest in a series of state-led attempts to disenfranchise Texas voters.”

From our current vantage, all we can add is that someone who admits to paying to have a political colleague stabbed to death and then burned is hardly likely to have qualms about paying people to commit vote fraud. But we could be wrong.

That said, perhaps GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli called off his investigation into vote fraud too early. Who knows what it might have uncovered? Maybe more bodies?

Sussex County Democrat operative Sean Caddle laughs it up with reporters at a press conference called to address the "Houston Votes" vote fraud allegations.

“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

Sussex Dems silent on BLM support of Cuban regime.

By Sussex Watchdog

For months Sussex County Democrats have loudly proclaimed their support for the neo-Marxist* Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement. They have done so at public meetings and on social media, where they have denounced those who disagree with them.

Suddenly, they have gone silent now that Black Lives Matter has come out against the administration of President Joe Biden over the question of democracy for the people of Cuba. That’s right, Black Lives Matter – an organization that wants to defund the police here in the United States – supports a foreign police state in Cuba. It’s the ultimate hypocrisy!

Last week, a Newsweek headline asked: Why Is Black Lives Matter Defending the Totalitarian Cuban Regime? The Newsweek column added:

The anti-government protests that have rocked Cuba in the last several days are the most dramatic expression of discontent seen on the island in six decades of communist rule. President Biden has sent a strongly worded message of solidarity with "the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom" against "Cuba's authoritarian regime," praising the protesters' assertion of "fundamental and universal rights."

…Yet not everyone was united in condemnation.

Most prominent among these is the Black Lives Matter movement, whose statement posted yesterday blamed Cuba's economic troubles on the United States embargo and hailed the Cuban regime's "solidarity with oppressed peoples of African descent." According to the BLM statement, "The people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination. United States leaders have tried to crush this Revolution for decades." Preposterously, the statement also accuses the U.S. of "undermining Cubans' right to choose their own government."

The "choice," in this case, is a one-party system in which all candidates for political office must be vetted by Communist Party-controlled committees.

The BLM Movement statement specifically mentioned Cuba’s support for convicted cop-killer terrorist Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur): “Cuba has historically demonstrated solidarity with oppressed peoples of African descent, from protecting Black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur through granting her asylum, to supporting Black liberation struggles in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, and South Africa.”

BLM’s statement made national news:

BLM hypocrisy: Defund American police. Support Cuban police state.

Democrat Commissioner candidates Mike Vrabel and Scott Paul have made statements in support of the neo-Marxist BLM Movement. Scott Paul has called himself an organizer for BLM events. He used his involvement as a credential to gain the Democrat nomination. Sussex County Democrats don’t hesitate to suggest that county residents who have never been convicted of a crime are criminal terrorists but are strangely silent about a convicted cop-killer and terrorist. Why? Because Joanne Chesimard/ Assata Shakur is a neo-Marxist icon and a hero of BLM?

Last year, a chamber of the New Jersey Legislature passed a resolution explicitly supporting the same BLM (Black Lives Matter) Movement that has now formally lent its name and support to a totalitarian Communist dictatorship. In doing so, BLM has made it abundantly clear that they do not represent Black Americans who are not Communists or totalitarian or pro-dictatorship or anti-democracy. In short, BLM hardly represents any Black Americans at all.

It is time for Vrabel and Paul to man up and tell us where they stand.

*Some dispute that Black Lives Matter is neo-Marxist as the movement is based not on economic class but rather on racial or ethnic identity. They argue that the latter is more indicative of Fascist Collectivism rather than true Marxism, no matter how much the BLM Movement’s leaders claim to be “trained” Marxists.

“It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics.”

Cruz joins with Sussex Dems to oppose broadband in Sussex-Warren.

By Sussex Watchdog

If you lived through the pandemic in Sussex or Warren County you know how important Internet connectivity is. If your Internet service wasn’t reliable, you couldn’t work from home, or learn from home, or even order food from home. And it’s not just for the pandemic – expanding broadband in Northwest New Jersey so that there’s reliable access to the Internet is crucial for the region’s economic development – now, and in the future.

Elected officials from BOTH political parties understand the need for greater broadband access in the region and reliable Internet connectivity. That’s why they place their ideological differences aside to broadly work together on what should be an issue of mutual agreement.

So, on Friday, when Governor Phil Murphy and Congressman Josh Gottheimer visited Lafayette to announce $190 million in American Rescue Plan funding that includes broadband expansion in Northwest New Jersey, they were joined by Republicans who have worked side-by-side with them to achieve this. Only an asshole would oppose reliable Internet access for Sussex and Warren Counties.

Enter Dan Cruz, a former Democrat, who is the teachers union’s answer to the problems facing Northwest New Jersey. It’s not enough that many teachers opposed returning to the classroom – apparently Cruz opposes students having the Internet access they need to learn from home as well.

Cruz took to social media to go on a rampage against Republicans who have put their partisan feelings aside to help get Sussex and Warren Counties the 21st Century Internet service we need. Cruz attacked Senator Steve Oroho and, by extension, Assemblyman Hal Wirths, County Commissioner Director Dawn Fantasia, and the Republican mayors of Blairstown, Hardwick, Belvidere, Sussex Borough, Frelinghuysen, and others. All of whom showed up in support of expanding broadband access for rural New Jersey and to support state legislation to create a Broadband Access Study Commission.

Apparently, Cruz saw red when Governor Murphy said, “Along with our congressional delegation and our Legislature, we are working to ensure that those living and working in New Jersey have access to reliable high-speed broadband services.” Cruz profoundly disagreed with that statement and with the one made by Congressman Gottheimer:

“For the sake of our families, economy, schools, and health care, we must continue fighting for communities across Warren and Sussex Counties to help boost their broadband connectivity… Now, every county and town in Sussex and Warren County will be clawing back federal dollars that they can use to improve connectivity. We also need to get the dollars sent to the State of New Jersey for rural broadband to right here in Sussex and Warren. With partners on both sides of the aisle and at every level of government, I believe we can get this done.”

NJBPU President Joseph L. Fiordaliso, who was also at the announcement, said: “Ensuring the most hard-to-reach areas of New Jersey have access to high speed Internet is an absolute necessity, especially in light of the last year. It is crucial that we close the digital divide, so our schoolchildren and businesses have the same educational and economic advantages regardless of where they are located.”

What responsible leader would oppose working together to achieve a bi-partisan outcome that materially helps the people of Sussex and Warren Counties?

Is Cruz nuts, stupid, or just a liar? Are we really supposed to believe that Cruz would rather have an Internet desert in Northwest New Jersey if it means working with the Democrats who run Trenton (the Murphy administration) and Washington (the Biden administration)? He’s too educated to be that stupid – so it’s down to being a nut or a liar.

But it gets worse.

It is bad enough when a political wannabe is on the make and will do anything, say anything, to try to score – but when the Executive Director of the Sussex Democrats cheers him on and shops around such a stupid attack, that is truly remarkable. Especially as the Executive Director in question has just trousered a fat patronage job – courtesy of the very same Governor Murphy.

Speaking for the Republicans, who are a minority in the Legislature, Senator Steve Oroho said: “High-speed internet is an absolute necessity in our world today, yet there are too many homes and communities in New Jersey that lack the broadband service many of us take for granted. The last year with so many employees and students working from home through the pandemic, it underscored the need of being wired for reliable internet connectivity. The creation of the Broadband Access Study Commission will examine the logistics of developing community broadband networks in order to deliver high-speed internet access, especially to underserved communities like many in rural areas. From a competitive standpoint, closing the digital divide is a must.”

Unfortunately, Dan Cruz and the Sussex County Democrats would rather play politics than get anything done. Being spiteful losers might make them feel good, but it doesn’t address the problem, which is a very real one – all across America.

Here is an educational video, provided by the Wall Street Journal, for the edification of Dan Cruz and the Sussex Democrats.  These idiots should watch it.  Maybe they’ll learn something?  But don’t hold your breath.

Pro-Murphy candidate runs as Republican in Sussex/Warren/Morris

By Sussex Watchdog

Dan Cruz was invited to discuss his views with conservatives in the state – leaders from the Second Amendment Society, the Pro-Life movement, Steve Lonegan, and groups concerned about illegal immigration. Cruz ignored them and instead asked a blog run by Democrats to publish a public relations profile of him. The owner of the blog was outed by no less than Wikileaks for his connections to Hillary Clinton’s fundraising operation in New Jersey.

So, it appears that the Democrats – after having been resoundingly crushed by Sussex County Republicans year after year – have simply given up on finding a candidate to run under their own party label against Sussex County’s top local Republican on the ballot this year. That’s right, the April 5th filing deadline came and went, but no Democrat filed against Sussex County’s Republican Senator, Steve Oroho (LD24) this year.

Instead, the Democrats are lavishing their attention on Dan Cruz – formerly a loyal Democrat primary voter – and are using their social media presence to push him on blogs like the one that did the public relations piece. In that piece, Cruz played loyal wingman to Democrat Governor Phil Murphy, defending his record on COVID just one day after Sussex County residents gathered for a prayer-vigil to remember the victims of Murphy’s Executive Order 103 – which hit Sussex County particularly hard and killed over 8,000 loved ones statewide.

Governor Murphy isn’t stupid. He knows that this election is about him – not Donald Trump. The last time he was on a ballot in Sussex County, in 2017, Phil Murphy received 36 percent of the vote, buoyed by an anti-Trump backlash. Bob Menendez got just 33 percent of the vote in Sussex County in 2018 – in midst of the Trump era. Murphy is also aware of just how low it can go if you can’t make it about Trump. In 2013, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono scraped together a mere 25 percent of the vote.

In 2019, at the last legislative election, Republican Assemblymen Parker Space and Hal Wirths got 69 percent of the vote. Republican Sheriff Mike Strada received 94 percent – and the Republican Freeholder candidates had the same 94 percent.

Governor Murphy knows Steve Oroho’s record as a candidate and knows that it’s formidable. As an outsider, Oroho defeated an incumbent Freeholder Director and an incumbent Legislator supported by the entire Trenton machine to get where he is. Against Democrats he has won with excess of 70 percent of the vote. At his last primary, in 2017, Oroho won re-election by 49 percentage points – 74 percent to 25 percent.

Before Steve Oroho became Sussex County’s Senator, county Democrats could console themselves with victories on the municipal and county levels. They could elect a Freeholder or a Mayor. But not under Steve Oroho. They haven’t held a single county seat while he’s been Senator – and the only mayors they can win hide their party registration and run as fiscal conservatives in non-partisan elections.

Murphy is concerned about Oroho’s ability to power turnout in Sussex County – hence, no Democrat opponent – but at the same time Murphy needs friendly “Republicans” to speak up for him and help cut the margin. This is where Cruz comes in.

George Will or Pee-wee Herman?

George Will or Pee-wee Herman?

Results??? Cruz is running against the only Republican legislator to make the NJ media’s list of most effective legislators.  Senator Oroho's tax cuts were praised by conservative groups like Americans for Tax Reform and conservative publications like Forbes, which called his tax cuts “one of the 5 best state and local tax policy changes in 2016 nationwide.”  Of course, Cruz is still learning his lines in his new role as "conservative Republican".  We can’t expect him to know all this.

Cruz’ connections to the Paterson Democrat machine and its allies is reinforced by yesterday’s public relations piece.  He is trying to present himself in ways that he imagines a conservative Republican would, but it comes off as a cross between George Will and Pee-wee Herman.  In preparation for his post-primary role as Murphy apologist, Cruz is adopting the kind of cringeworthy, defensive phrases that corporate Democrats find so acceptable in “Republicans” – like they did “The Lincoln Project”.

For example, the Democrats’ public relations piece about Cruz, notes that he wants “to ‘break the stigma’ associated with the Republican party before they lost their grasp.  He acknowledged that some of that came from President Donald Trump’s term in the White House… ‘We cannot just serve one side, we have to serve everyone and bring everyone together to make decisions on a collaborative effort.  Many people disliked the party because of President Trump’s message and what he stood for, but that doesn’t mean all of us are like that.’”

And this: “As far as Cruz is concerned, Republicans can do better by reaching out to areas that they traditionally have not campaigned in.  Republicans’ failure to try to appreciably make the big tent bigger is detrimental to their long term success.  Regarding the gubernatorial election, he said, ‘My impression is this.  Murphy has the leg.  Right now, he is ahead in the most populous cities—Paterson, Newark, Trenton—he is ahead there.  You don’t have a Republican who can go into these cities and say ‘Vote for me.’  They aren’t going into the inner cities, speaking to the people.’”

“When asked what he thought of Governor Phil Murphy’s performance handling the pandemic, Cruz was candid.  ‘Regarding Governor Murphy there are some things that he could’ve done better, and there are obviously some things he has done that you can say he did OK.  I think with the COVID plan, he did what he thought was the best possible solution in his eyes and administration,’ a seemingly rare instance in the current climate where an opposition party acknowledges the perceived sincerity of another.”

Cruz completely avoided mentioned Executive Order 103 or the 8,000 people who died or the fact that the worst hit nursing homes were in the county and district he says he wants to represent.  And the vigil to remember those who died had just been held in the town in which he lives!  Now, that is shilling.

Cruz went on to compare Murphy to Republican governors Greg Abbott of Texas and Ron DeSantis of Florida.  Cruz said Murphy had done better… “Balancing governmental direction with laissez faire has been a perilous tightrope act for Governor Murphy since the start of the pandemic.  ‘When you read the news and listen to people,’ Cruz said, ‘I believe that New Jerseyans have been extremely responsible during this time.’”

But Dan Cruz’ utility for Murphy doesn’t end with protecting his flank with Republicans.  Cruz’ background as a teacher and education activist provides a perspective to launch attacks on attempts by more fiscally responsible Democrats to rein in some of Murphy’s more bewildering excesses.  And so, Cruz has bitterly attacked Senate President Steve Sweeney and the Path to Progress, which is the work of a bi-partisan coalition of Democrat and Republican legislators.

Cruz opposes the reduction in education administrators that the consolidation advocated in the Path to Progress would produce.  Fewer individual units delivering education equals a smaller education bureaucracy and fewer administrators.  By coincidence, it just so happens that Cruz’ wife is an education administrator making six-figures and all the benefits.  She works for the New York City school system at a high school with problems not unlike those in New Jersey that the Path to Progress is looking to address: Only 2 percent of students have taken an Advanced Placement Test, just 37 percent are proficient at mathematics, only 32 percent are proficient at reading, and the graduation rate is 29 percent.

Is Steve Sweeney and the Path to Progress right?  Will consolidating bureaucracy help?  While admitting that it would save taxpayers’ money, Cruz doesn’t think so. He’s concerned that local school superintendents and the boards they control would lose too much power – and if that were to happen, what might become of taxpayer-funded positions like he enjoys, and all those perks and benefits that mere legislators can only dream of?

Maybe he’d have to fall back on his business – a sideline to top off two taxpayer-funded incomes (with perks and benefits) – called Opulent Creations Events, L.L.C.  The upside is that Cruz would have more time to attend to it and not have the problems he had with the NJ Department of Revenue which, according to them, suspended Cruz’ business (he is listed as COO) from January 16, 2016 to May 15, 2017.  A silver lining?

Murphy goons target COVID nursing home whistleblower

By Sussex Watchdog

In a coordinated, one-two punch, Democrats allied with Governor Phil Murphy delivered a vicious attack on journalist/whistleblower Jennifer Jean Miller. She’s the former New Jersey Herald reporter featured in the New York Times and ABC News who broke the story that Governor Murphy’s infamous Executive Order 103 was causing the deaths from COVID-19 of dozens in nursing homes in Sussex County.

Eventually, the deaths from COVID in New Jersey’s nursing and veterans’ homes would surpass 8,000 lives. New Jersey would earn the terrible distinction of having the worst rate of death (per 100,000) in long-term care facilities (nursing/veterans’ homes) from COVID-19 among the 50 states. As the Star-Ledger pointed out, if New Jersey were its own country, it would have the worst rate of death from COVID-19 in the world.

The first attack came on Sunday – from a blogger known by the pseudonym Jabba the Angry Fat Man. Jabba is a big supporter of Congressman Josh Gottheimer and has bragged on his blog that his death threats against President Donald Trump earned him a visit from the United States Secret Service.

Jennifer Jean Miller is interviewed through this video by ABC.

Jabba has attacked this testimony, calling journalist Jennifer Jean Miller a “liar” and her articles in the New Jersey Herald, a “PR stunt”.  When Miller, who is not only a courageous whistleblower but who served as a support system for many of the families of the victims, drew parallels between what her family suffered during the Holocaust (at Auschwitz) and the fear and isolation suffered by the those who died, she was viciously attacked by the Democrat, who called her a “wacko”.

These histrionics and the nastiness of the attacks lead us to wonder if Jabba is on the payroll of the highly insider, international Public Relations/ Lobbying/ Political Consulting group (Mercury) that was hired to protect the nursing home operators (and, by extension, the Murphy administration) from the families of those who died and their supporters.  Is Congressman Gottheimer at all connected to these – or other nursing homes operators – or to their lobbyists?  We’re just asking.  Is the lobbyist/ public relations firm owned by the Congressman’s spouse and in-laws connected?  And what about contributions to the master fundraiser’s campaign?

Given Gottheimer’s background as the Number Two executive at a similar insider international Public Relations/ Lobbying/ Political Consulting group, perhaps the Congressman hooked them up?  Gottheimer’s was the firm that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow called “the PR firm from Hell.”  And remember what else Maddow said about Josh Gottheimer’s firm:

"When evil needs public relations, evil has (Josh Gottheimer’s firm) on speed dial."
Rachel Maddow

We wonder if Congressman Gottheimer and the members of his Problem Solvers Caucus believe that journalists who uncover misfeasance by government and/or private nursing home operators should suffer retribution by Democrat Party operatives in the form of being labeled “a lying, has-been, right-wing sleaze artist”?  We will be asking them – each of them – directly about this, as they are all up for re-election next year (some having to pass through the filter of a Republican primary).  We suspect, in turn, that Caucus Co-Chairman Gottheimer will be hearing from them.

Earlier today, the Sussex County Democrats issued their own attack in support of the one launched on Sunday by the blogger Jabba the Angry Fat Man.  In it, they attacked people for asking questions.  In a press release of more than a thousand words, they never once mention Executive Order 103.

Instead, the Democrats attack everyone who wants answers, everyone who has submitted an unfulfilled OPRA request to Governor Murphy's administration, everyone who has called for bi-partisan legislative hearings, everyone who has asked for an independent investigation into why more than 8,000 people died.  In their fear for what the truth may reveal about Governor Murphy – the Democrats attack everyone looking for the truth.

Sussex County Democrats even attack the whistleblowing journalist who broke the story.  In the most vicious way – mocking the suffering of her family in Auschwitz.

In their press release, the Sussex County Democrats claim that the nursing home operators “chose PROFIT over PEOPLE, which led to bodies being stacked up in makeshift morgues and families and employees left with enduring trauma for years to come.”  They further state:

“The Sussex County Democratic Committee has been inundated with first-hand accounts from both current and former employees who want to set the record straight about the horror they witnessed.”

Good.  But why are the Sussex County Democrats resisting the means to set that record straight?  Why are they not supporting the victims’ families, the county government, and legislators like Senator Steve Oroho – who are demanding transparency from the Murphy administration.  Why the cover-up?

Why have OPRA requests about those nursing homes gone unfulfilled?  Does it have anything to do with the boast made by a nursing home operator to a local government official about their donations to Governor Murphy and his Democrats?  This local government official would like to have a hearing at which to testify – on the record!  Will the Sussex Democrats work to give him one?

Sadly, it doesn’t seem so.

Rather than uncover who is responsible for what happened, the Sussex County Democrats want everyone to accept their perspective that Governor Murphy and his administration acted perfectly, there is nothing to see here, so move on.  They make this clear when they suggest that Republicans “should be exploring viable ways to make sure these examples of failure, negligence and mismanagement are never able to happen again under these circumstances.”  Just so long as those viable ways do not include fact-finding of any kind – from OPRA requests to open public hearings into why more than 8,000 died – all fact-finding is strictly verboten

The Sussex County Democrats want Watergate without the hearings.  Someone should pull them back to reality and tell them it doesn’t work that way.

We have a suggestion.

The Sussex County Republicans should invite the Sussex County Democrats to debate this issue and how to address it.  Openly, in public, with full transparency.

The Democrats could bring Jabba the Angry Fat Man as part of their panel.  The Republicans could ask the whistleblower/ journalist the Democrats have attempted to smear, Jennifer Jean Miller.  Perhaps the Democrats could ask Governor Murphy himself to attend… the Republicans, Jack Ciattarelli.

If they really want to get to the bottom of this, the Democrats need only look to their name and live up to it – democracy and the transparency that democracy is supposed to be synonymous with.  Supposed to be… in practice, not so much.  Not at all, these days.

Should Sussex Democrats acknowledge their role in Nazi camp?

By Rubashov

Sussex County Democrats have been banging on about “white nationalism”, a very recently coined term, barely in use before 2016. They have taken to calling those who disagree with them “racists” and “white supremacists” – even when those they attack are of mixed ancestry.

Democrats stalk GOP County Commissioner Director Dawn Fantasia and mock her ancestry on social media, using terms like “whitey”. They take to the same social media to compare all Republicans to Nazis.

This is all rather curious, given the historical connections between the Sussex County Democrats and actual, Hitler-saluting Nazis (or, if you prefer their full name, National Socialists).

Enough of our history still exists to know the story of the Nazi Bund of the 1930s and early 1940s. They operated a camp in Andover Township, Sussex County called Camp Nordland. >It was a member of the local political establishment, Newton lawyer William Dolan, who handled the land transaction that granted an American Nazi group control of the land that became Camp Nordland. Mr. Dolan was then the sitting State Senator of Sussex County, a Democrat, at a time when each county had one state senator.

According to a scholar at the University of Michigan, "New Jersey Congressman J. Parnell Thomas, Republican of Sussex, noted that New Jersey State Senator William Dolan, a Democrat, had aided the Bund in buying Nordland and that the Democratic Township Committee of Andover had granted Nordland a liquor license."

According to historian and author Warren Grover, Camp Nordland in Andover Township was incorporated in March 1937. Fritz Kuhn, the so-called “American Fuehrer”, was one of the eight trustees of Camp Nordland. When the camp formally opened in July, State Senator Dolan was introduced by the American Nazi Bund's New Jersey Bundesleiter, and he greeted the "swastika waving" crowds.

Dolan was a political enemy of Franklin's Alfred “Bike” Littell, a Republican who went on to take his place as State Senator and to serve as Senate President. Littell, whose education at Princeton University had been interrupted for service in an artillery regiment in World War I, went to war with the American Nazis. Alfred Littell was the father of the late Senator Bob Littell, father-in-law of NJ Republican Party Chairwoman Virginia Littell, and the grandfather of former Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose.

Wikipedia notes: “Camp Nordland was a 204-acre resort facility located in Andover Township, New Jersey. From 1937 to 1941, this site was owned and operated by the German American Bund, which sympathized with and propagandized for Nazi Germany in the United States. This resort camp was opened by the Bund on 18 July 1937. In the years before the Second World War, the Bund held events at the facility to encourage pro-German, pro-Nazi values—many of these events attracting over 10,000 visitors. On 18 August 1940, it was the site of a joint rally with the Ku Klux Klan... While much of its history and notoriety has faded over the last 70 years, many local residents of Sussex County still refer to the area as the ‘bund camp’.”

The hyphenated “German-American” nature of the Bund marks it as an early example of identity politics. In fact, the Bund pushed its own hard-luck stories and tales of victimhood. They claimed they were only “defending” their people from oppression.

The writer Sinclair Lewis published a satirical novel in 1935 called, It Can't Happen Here, two years before it did happen here -- right here, in Andover Township, New Jersey. With the urgency some have to erase every piece of history that doesn’t fit into their own propaganda narrative, do we need to insist that the Sussex County Democrat Committee acknowledge its historical role in promoting National Socialism in Sussex County and New Jersey?

Should we make the all-too-often “holier-than-thou” Democrats acknowledge their history, as a warning against an ideology that sent so many millions to their deaths. Especially given the Sussex County Democrats’ role in establishing the camp.

Maybe the Legislature and the County Commissioners can propose a resolution to memorialize what happened in New Jersey and the attempt here to normalize Nazism? Maybe a plaque can be installed. Lest we forget...

No kidding: Democrats oppose “Golden Rule” of do unto others.

By Rubashov

It’s kind of sad to watch the Sussex County Democrats turn into shills for the corporate establishment, but maybe that’s all we can expect from an organization run by a troika that has been described as “bourgeois princesses”. We are coming up on a year since Governor Phil Murphy shut down the state’s economy – which has a doubling effect in Sussex County, where the Highlands Act limits the ways in which local governments and small business can respond to an economic crisis.

Apparently, Murphy didn’t quite understand that here – in this country – the availability of health care for most Americans depends on their ability to pay a for-profit insurance company a monthly premium. That’s why we applaud the leadership of the true Left – the honest Left – people like Chris Hedges and Jimmy Dore and Professor Cornel West in pushing for a vote for Medicare for all, at least for the duration of the pandemic.

Democrats – like the party organization in Sussex County – should be working across party lines to find solutions to the problems created by government’s response to the COVID pandemic. Sussex County is suffering from unacceptable levels of unemployment and underemployment – with the pressure of likely foreclosures now well into the thousands and the county food pantry working overtime.

What is happening is something entirely different. Instead of trying to work together to help people, the Democrats in Sussex County are displaying a species of depraved indifference to human suffering, and instead of helping, turning recent meetings of the Board of County Commissioners into a sad exercise in virtue-signaling and name-calling.

Nowadays, these meetings are held on Zoom and are recorded. They are bizarre in the extreme, with legions recruited by the “bourgeois princesses” for an exercise that mirrors Roman Catholic confession – only in reverse. In this case, you profess your lack of sin – while condemning the sin of others. No wonder it is so popular amongst the delusional and with those a little short in the self-awareness department.

The first Democrat up was a fellow who seems intent on playing Jabba the Hutt – with Commissioner Director Dawn Fantasia as his imaginary Princess Leia. The threats this critter makes towards her and his unnatural fascination with her seems a bit weird and inappropriate. We can only wonder what Democrat Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg would make of it.

Next was a Democrat who objected to the mention of the Golden Rule in an anti-hate resolution. No, we’re not kidding. This knucklehead actually asked that the following line be removed from the resolution: “In addition, this Board strongly recommends to all its constituents to abide by the timeless values expressed in the ‘Golden Rule’ (Matthew 7:12), that we ‘do unto others as we would have them do unto us’.”

We’re looking for the right word here… How about Ass Clown? Hands up for Ass Clown!

The next Democrat – one of the “bourgeois princesses” who runs the Democrats’ show in Sussex County – used all her time to chastise the Board for its work on addressing mental health, drug addiction, and suicide. She contends that the mere mention of such things leads to the thing mentioned actually happening. By extension, should the nation’s medical libraries (physical and on-line) be viewed as dangerous “triggers” of the diseases and conditions they provide the knowledge to address? Yes, this is a crazy superstition – and the book burners would have a field day – but this is the kind of thing the Democrats go on and on about.

Up next was yet another of the “bourgeois princesses” – a defeated candidate for the very Board she was addressing.  This Democrat’s beef was that the Board wasn’t using the anti-hate resolution that she drafted.  Instead, the Board was discussing an anti-hate resolution drafted by someone who was democratically elected in a landslide by the voters of Sussex County.  Some ego on that princess, huh?

What has happened to decency and humility?  You were rejected by the voters.  They did not trust you to draft such resolutions.  They chose someone else.  You should have the humility to accept it.

An event page was organized on social media by one of the princesses to get Democrats to call in to support this defeated candidate’s resolution.  Some Democrats claimed that the “threat” of “white nationalism” had been around for decades.  We found this statement curious, because a search of the database of New Jersey newspapers reveals the following:

  • no hits for the term “white nationalism” in the 1980s,

  • six hits in the 1990s,

  • eleven in the 2000s,

  • eight hits covering from 2010 through 2015,

  • in excess of 4,000 hits since 2016.

Could politics have anything to do with the meteoric rise in the use of that term?

Other Democrats actually claimed that the threat posed by their white neighbors was more important than ongoing genocides – like the government-backed, anti-Muslim genocides in Myanmar and China. It seems they view a country rock band banner that incorporates a rebel flag as a more menacing symbol than the Marxist clenched fist. If these followers of the “bourgeois princesses” knew just a little history, they would understand that the ideology represented by the latter has killed far more human beings than the ideology they mistakenly believe is represented by the banner of some rock band. The ideology of rock, if there is one, is best summed up as beer and sex. Is it the sex they find objectionable?

A Democrat from Vernon Township brought up the former Camp Nordland in Andover Township, a Nazi camp that was opened with a speech by the last Democrat State Senator from Sussex County. He was also the Nazis’ lawyer and helped obtain the liquor license to fuel their rallies. This hapless person was obviously unaware that it was the Republican Littell family who shut the Nazis down. Bike Littell, a veteran of the First World War, sent that Democrat State Senator packing along with his Nazi allies.

Is a formal apology by the Sussex County Democrat Committee in order? These were actual, real Hitler-saluting Nazis, not some word thrown around at someone on Facebook. Some might say an apology by the Democrats is overdue.

As much as we hate to report this, Sussex County Democrats (under the leadership of the bourgeois princesses) appear to be fully on-board for the process of dehumanizing the people they live with. Before supposedly intelligent people like lawyer Ann Pompelio continue down this path, they should read Chris Hedges’ coverage of the meltdown in Yugoslavia – to what happens when you dehumanize your neighbor, make him or her a bogeyman and an object of fear.

At the very least, lawyer Pompelio and the “bourgeois princesses” should listen to Jimmy Dore’s warning…

Jimmy Dore looks at the Democrats’ War-on-every-other-American and sees it for what it is: A corporate Establishment effort to keep Americans divided and unorganized.

The honest Left – the real Left – is calling out the cosmetic Left. These are folks like our “bourgeois princesses” – corporate shills who play at being Leftist but who are really servants of the One Percenter Establishment. Jimmy Dore famously drew a line in the sand when he asked so-called “Leftists” in Congress to force a vote on Medicare for all – to have their voting records reflect their rhetoric. Most congressional Democrats failed. They were too busy with their “symbolic” impeachment to worry about health-care-for-all in the midst of a pandemic.

“That’s what they’re doing now in the United States. They want to make it toxic. They want to make you afraid to fraternize with other Americans. Because it helps their political agenda.

That’s the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party wants you to keep thinking half the country is your enemy."

Anti-Trump criminals attack GOP legislator’s family

By Sussex Watchdog

Over the past month, we’ve gone where newspapers like the Gannett corporation’s New Jersey Herald fear to tread.  We’ve covered the vandalization of family homes in Northwest New Jersey by anti-Trumpers and asked why these obvious acts of hatred were not covered in the same way as when someone spray-paints a Gottheimer for Congress sign?

Does the Gannett corporation approve of violence, so long as it is directed towards people who they decide are unfashionable?  Or are they simply glad that the violent are too distracted to examine Gannett’s record closely?  Are they pleased that the violence is directed away from them?  That someone else is doing the suffering?

Sometime last night, a billboard advertising Space Farms Zoo and Museum was defaced with spray-painted anti-Trump slogans and foul language…

space farms billboard.JPG

Space Farms is owned by the family of Assemblyman Parker Space (R-24) and his wife, Jill Space, a Republican State Committeewoman and the First Vice Chair of the Sussex County Republican Committee.  When Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s (D-5) campaign sign was defaced, everyone of both parties rallied around him, the media covered it in great detail, all and sundry were appalled.  We won’t hold our breath in this instance.

At this sick moment in our history, the Establishment has allowed the violent to target some with impunity, while taking steps to destroy the morale and effectiveness of the police.  Average Americans have watched this and have responded by personally arming themselves to an unprecedented degree.  Any possibility of a rational debate has been screwed to death over the past few weeks.  People cannot unsee what has happened.

This attack on the family of an elected representative of the people comes just weeks after two Black Lives Matter activists were arrested for spray-painting “BLM” and defacing property near the home of the elected Sheriff of Sussex County, Mike Strada.  At about the same time, ten shots were fired at the home of Sheriff Strada, while his wife and children were inside.  That crime is still under investigation and Governor Murphy’s State Police have not released the name or names of those suspected of perpetrating what could be a case of attempted murder.

Fresh from successfully intimidating the Sussex County Freeholder Board into passing a resolution that they dictated, Black Lives Matter activists were out in force yesterday, holding a Black Lives Matter rally in Byram while – a few miles away – engaging in an action to disrupt a planned pro-Trump rally that was called off at the last minute for safety concerns.  The stated reason was weather related.

Now the New Jersey Herald is willingly accepting the intellectual servitude of the Black Lives Matter movement.  Its pages today remind us of the end of the free press in Germany during that very dark period of the 1930s and 40s.  We will devote a future post to illustrate just how parallel the language is – often word for word.  It make us wonder if those running BLM are historical copycats?

Of course, the Gannett corporation is more than happy to spread the blame to America or “society” or the police… instead of being held to account for its own actions.  No matter how many riots or burned down buildings or spray painted slogans or murderous acts… violence does not result in peace.  You cannot compel peace or tolerance or respect at a global level.  Government cannot mandate these things.  Such things happen at the smallest, personal, and individual scale.

That is Gannett’s problem.  As a corporation Gannett has been wantonly cruel to its individual workers – generally, across the board, although some have believed it to be due to the color of their skin.

Black Lives Matter is complicit in Gannett’s corporate viciousness.  By allowing Gannett to “take a knee” they are complicit as its public relations “fig leaf”.  But so long as they get their pay-off, Black Lives Matter doesn’t seem to care about the workers.  After all, these are academic “Marxists” of the snowflake variety.

Gannett pays homage to Black Lives Matter because it doesn't want anyone looking at their behavior or the behavior of some of the corporation's media outlets.  Like the recent federal class action lawsuit brought against Gannett alleging that the corporation is "running a racist workplace that makes it impossible for black workers to be promoted".  The 26-page lawsuit, with 23 pages of attachments makes for interesting reading:

"Gannett ran a sophisticated scheme and cover 'in the form of focus groups and other means and methods that are subjectively manipulated by Gannett to achieve its discriminatory goals and objectives.'
According to the lawsuit, Gannett 'has a corporate custom, policy, pattern, practice and procedure of not promoting African-Americans to director and leadership positions and utilizing a ‘one-and-done policy’ that disparately impacts African-American employed within the company.'
Gannett, based in McLean, Va., is best known for its flagship newspaper, USA Today. Its chain of newspapers, TV stations and other media reach than 110 million people a month, according to the complaint."

A journalist employed at Gannett added:

“In sum, the overall employment atmosphere and attitude at Gannett is hostile toward recruitment, training, leadership, management and advancement of African-Americans into top broadcasting leadership positions and opportunities.”

The EEOC found that it could not certify that Gannett is in compliance with the federal anti-discrimination law.  The federal class action lawsuit "seeks class certification, restitution, and compensatory and punitive damages for Civil Rights Act violations, loss of prospective earnings and a court order 'to enjoin the discriminatory practices.'"

Gannett was also recently sued for age discrimination over its practice of replacing older employees with younger, less expensive ones.  Over 1,300 Gannett employees have been "fired" between 2011 and 2017.

Gannett is a ruthless corporation that takes knees and points fingers in a public relations spin operation designed to take the focus off them.  Black Lives Matter is aiding and abetting this scam.  Don’t be fooled.

We will keep you informed.  Stay tuned...

“It is his millions of relationships that will give man his humanity… It is not our ideological rights that are important but the quality of our relationships with each other, with all men, with knowledge and art and God that count.

The civil rights movement has done a magnificent job but it is now faced with the ancient choice between good and evil, between love for all men and lust for a group’s power.”

“Every group on earth that has put ideology before human relations has failed; always disaster and bitterness and bloodshed have come.  This movement, too, may fail.  If it does, it will be because it aroused in men more hate than love, more concern for their own group than for all people, more lust for power than compassion for human need.”

“We must avoid the trap of totalism which lures a man into thinking there is only one way, one answer, one option, and that others must be forced into this One Way, and forced into it Now.”

Sussex Democrats go low… politicize Jersey City police officer’s death

Yes, they went there.  It’s what you do when you fail and fail again.

As the New Jersey Herald reported this morning, last night’s anti-Trump/ pro-Impeachment rally was a bust.  Nobody showed… but for a counter-rally of Trump supporters, organized last-minute by the redoubtable Bill Hayden.

Referring to the inclement weather, Hayden (who is probably the best conservative grassroots organizer in the state) laid this perfect line on the Democrats (we quote, from the Herald): “I guess the snowflakes don’t like ice.”

The rally-that-didn’t-happen was organized with the DC-insider group MoveOn.org, which was originally called Censure and Move On and formed to oppose the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.  You can’t make this stuff up.  The hypocrisy of it all.  Does the sucking ever end?  No, it never ends… it just goes on and on.

So this morning’s lash-out by the Sussex County Democrat Committee surprised no one.  They always flip-out after a major screw-up.  Only this one was in exceedingly poor taste, somehow managing to equate hunters and owners of firearms in general with “far-right extremists” – while attacking Sussex County Republicans over the tragic death of a police officer in Jersey City, Hudson County.

Yep.  Real crazy.  And exceedingly poor taste.

We won’t point out that the Democrats in Trenton did away with the death penalty for cop-killers.  Or that the political leanings of these cop-killers do not fit the Democrats’ narrative.  Or that the Sussex County Democrats supported the efforts of their party to hold a “criminal appreciation day” in Trenton, during which they passed laws to give convicted criminals voting rights and education aid (just months after cutting education funding to Sussex County’s school children).  What kind of message does this send?  Pushing criminals to the head of the line before school kids – if that isn’t proof that “crime pays” what is?

Not content with the level at which they disgraced themselves, Democrats ramped it up, attempting to link the GOP to anti-Semitism and terrorism.  Perhaps they were gazing into a mirror?

If any party has a problem with anti-Semitism, it is the Democrat Party.  As Democrat Congressman Josh Gottheimer has noted, there are members of the Democrat congressional caucus who are open supporters of the anti-Semitic BDS movement.  Sussex County Democrats even got an award from Linda Sarsour – who was dumped from the Women’s March because of her anti-Semitism.

The government of Israel and Jewish community leaders worldwide have noted the inexorable rise of anti-Semitism on the Left.  And it’s not just the Democrats in Washington, DC.  One of the causes for the defeat of the British Labour Party at the recent General Election was its open embrace of anti-Semitism.  It directly led to the worst defeat for the Left since 1935 – and the largest Conservative majority since the 1980’s era of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.

And as for terrorism…

The award those Sussex County Democrats got was in recognition of voter registration drives and other political campaigning done by Action Together New Jersey in coordination with a group called CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.  Presenting the award was CAIR National Chairwoman, Roula Allouch, and CAIR-NJ Founder, Ahmed Al Shehab.

One of America’s most important Islamic allies – the United Arab Emirates – has designated CAIR a terrorist organization.

Action Together New Jersey is in the forefront of the drive to push the Democrat Party in New Jersey to the far-Left.  They have joined CAIR in opposing the bi-partisan efforts of New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-5) to push back on members of the so-called “Jihad Squad” (far-Left Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib) in their attempt to promote the anti-Semitic BDS movement

Entire county party organizations are being taken over by Action Together New Jersey.  In Sussex County, for instance, their members have thoroughly infiltrated the local Democrat committees and pushed the moderates out.  On the group’s website, they identify members of Action Together New Jersey who have taken over and occupied leadership positions in the Democrat Party.

These include Katie Rotondi, the Chairwoman of the Sussex County Democrat Committee.  Also listed as members on the group’s website are Democrat State Committee members Michele Van Allen and Ben Silva, Stanhope Councilman Anthony Riccardi, Sparta Board of Education member Kate Matteson, as well as a number of Democrat County Committee members.

The far-Left is on the march, taking over the Democrat Party, pushing out common sense and fiscal responsibility.  The hypocritical attempts by Sussex County Democrats to smear others are merely a cover for this takeover.

Murphy Dems say taxpayers who want answers to school funding cuts “extremist”

The administration of Governor Phil Murphy and the Democrats who control both chambers of the Legislature cut funding to most Sussex County school districts – as well as to many other rural and suburban school districts across the state.  These cuts were made despite the fact that working class families in rural and suburban New Jersey continue to subsidize the property taxes of rich corporations and wealthy professionals in many of New Jersey’s gentrified urban districts.

To give just one example, in Vernon, the Murphy Democrats’ education funding cuts resulted in a 10 percent property tax increase.  And this is only year one of a proposed multi-year round of cuts by the Democrats.

Republican Assemblymen Parker Space and Hal Wirths have been trying to get the Democrats to agree to hold a special session on property taxes.  Space and Wirths want to address the unfairness of the New Jersey education funding formula – the most inequitable in the entire United States.  To date, the Democrats have tried to change the subject, making excuses on why they don’t have time to address property taxes but do have time to tackle such pressing concerns as transgender curriculum for schools and such.

Then there’s the Governor’s screwball Sanctuary State scam that has already released violent sex offenders back into the community.

Since July, Assemblymen Space and Wirths have been trying to get someone from the Murphy administration to show up in Sussex County and come before an open public meeting to discuss his Sanctuary State scheme, how he came up with the idea, and whether it was motivated by politics or genuine law enforcement concerns.  The New Jersey Herald covered this in a front page story on July 24th but to date, the Murphy administration has played hide-and-seek, dodging the issue and refusing to show up and talk to the people of Sussex County.

https://www.njherald.com/news/20190724/space-wirths-want-attorney-general-to-explain-sanctuary-state-directive

So it is a bit disconcerting that when the Governor finally shows up in Sussex county, it isn't at a public meeting, but at a location hidden from the general public; and it isn't to answer questions from the people who pay his salary, but to raise money from big donors for the Democrat Party.

Now, to add insult to injury, the Democrats trot out their Antifa-wannabe shill, Chairwoman Katie Rotondi, who labels as “haters” and “extremists” those seeking answers from the Governor whose salary they pay.  Since when is it extreme to ask questions of government?

In fact, before sending out his shill again, we think Governor Murphy needs to take a remedial course in the Constitution of the United States of America – specifically the Bill of Rights.  Last time we checked, in the United States of America – in this country – the right to petition is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which specifically prohibits government or its party shills from abridging "the right of the people...to petition the Government for a redress of grievances".

Finally, we think it the height of hypocrisy for a party operative who is notorious for singing about sucking a “bag of d*cks” to be offended by the use of a phrase like “Murphy sucks”.  If you wish to be a puritan, by all means be a puritan, but please be consistent about it.

Yes, that is her. The Democrat Party chairwoman in all her glory. Katie Rotondi is also notorious for mocking Disabled American Veterans and for comparing Christian belief to “Hitler” – something the Democrat Committee applauded her for – and something the trustees of the Sussex County Community College failed to examine when they caved into her demands to remove one of their own members. As Katie says… “F*ck you, I love you.”

Did you get that, Governor Murphy? Do you approve?

Vernon: Burrell won’t say where he stands on Murphy’s illegal Sanctuary State scam

The New Jersey Herald is reporting that Vernon Mayoralty candidate Howard Burrell has refused to take a position on Democrat Governor Phil Murphy’s Sanctuary State directive that protects criminal illegal immigrants from being detained for federal authorities.  According to the Herald

“During the forum, the mayoral candidates were asked to weigh in on two hot-button issues - same-sex marriage and immigration.

Both said they would have no objection to performing same-sex marriage ceremonies but differed when asked about New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s directive limiting the degree to which local and county authorities may cooperate in the enforcement of federal immigration laws. A ballot initiative supporting the position taken by Sheriff Michael Strada will ask county voters in the upcoming election whether county resources should be made available to ICE for this and other purposes.”

Burrell said he would support the Governor’s directive or, as he put it, “support the rules whatever they are.”  His opponent, Dan Storey, said:  “I support the sheriff wholeheartedly, 100%.”

The Murphy administration claims its directive is designed to build “trust” with illegal immigrant communities.  In fact, by limiting the cooperation between local and federal law enforcement, the Murphy directive creates a “sanctuary” for all sorts of criminal behavior – including human trafficking, the sexual exploitation of women and children, the illegal importation of narcotics and opioids, and the illegal importation of firearms.

Howard Burrell is already in some controversy over a potential campaign finance reporting violation.  It is common knowledge that a late summer poll was conducted on behalf of Burrell, an announced candidate for the non-partisan office of Vernon mayor.  It is understood that the poll was conducted for Burrell’s campaign and paid for by a major developer in Sussex County.

It was a “live caller” poll – not a push-button one – and so the cost must have been upwards of $10,000.  Certainly something of value.

The current mayor’s son received the polling call – as did dozens of others.  It was conducted over several evenings and was rather lengthy, testing the name identification of each of the three candidates for mayor.  So why is there no mention of it on Howard Burrell’s mandatory campaign finance and expense report filed on October 5, 2019, and available today for inspection?

Howard Burrell was a Democrat Freeholder until he was defeated for re-election in 2002 by 4,000 votes.  He managed Democrat Dan Perez’ 2017 Freeholder race against Republican Freeholder Director Herb Yardley.  Perez lost by 7,000 votes.

We note these things because Howard Burrell should, by now, understand New Jersey election law.  The rules are clear about reporting both monetary contributions and “things of value” – like a poll.

It is important for candidate Howard Burrell to explain why the expenditure for polling was not listed on his mandatory campaign and expense report.  Was it an oversight?  We will await his explanation.

Gov. Murphy won’t advertise an event in Sussex County for fear of drawing anti-Sanctuary protest

For the last couple years, the Democrats have been the folks on the offensive, showing up, screaming and hollering, pissing and moaning. They’re offended by this, pissed-off about that, calling people names – all while advocating for voting rights for violent felons (they even want criminals to get to hire their own lobbyists too).

In Sussex County, the Skylands Tea Party movement has given them a taste of their own medicine. Inspired by the madness of Democrats, Skylands leader Bill Hayden has led the way in countering the “resistance” with his own brand of engagement. Now when the Democrats show their faces they are met by Hayden – with superior numbers – and he patiently explains to them the faults in their argument. The Democrats can’t do much else but listen politely, because when they try to do what they normally do – shout him down – they are met with superior numbers and louder voices. So engagement happens. People talk. Progress made.

But the Democrats don’t like progress. They’d rather stick to name-calling and keeping people at each other’s throats. Their answer is to go stealth. Now they hold events at undisclosed locations, like pop-up speakeasies (only they’re selling bullshit instead of booze). They don’t want Bill Hayden showing up to talk to anyone for fear that he’ll grab a few more away from them.

The Sussex County Democrats are bringing in the Governor of the State of New Jersey – Phil Murphy himself – but they’re not giving away the location until you donate and purchase a ticket to attend. Only then will they let you know where the event will take place (and hopefully it’s not at one of the Governor’s mansions somewhere in Europe).

tea+party.jpg

We get it. Governor Murphy and the Democrats know they’ve pissed people off with their bullshit Sanctuary State scam that has released violent sex criminals back into the community just so the Governor and his cronies can claim to be “politically correct”.

The Democrats understand they are not popular when they cut education funding to school children in Sussex County and then turn around and give the money to illegal immigrants for education and legal assistance. They get that firefighters are angry because Murphy tried to raid the firefighter relief fund and use it for liberal bullshit. They know we know that Murphy and the Democrats are not on our side.

And so they hide and come around in secret, under cover of darkness.

Good job Bill Hayden. There should be one of you in each county!

Shouldn’t FIGHTING FIRES FOR FREE give you the right to express yourself at your own event?

Volunteer firefighters put their necks on the line every time they get a call to come out for a fire or some other emergency. Because they do it for FREE, as an act of kindness to their neighbors and community, they save taxpayers millions each year in Sussex County (billions nationally).

Now Democrats and their far-Left allies are trying to destroy the fire protection services in one Sussex County town. Initially, they called town halls to request that volunteer firefighters be “fired” or “removed” because the Democrats were “offended” when the volunteers displayed a Trump banner at THEIR parade.

The Democrats have gone to the IRS with the claim that by displaying the flag, the volunteers “endorsed” a candidate. The Democrats are pushing to have the fire department investigated by the IRS and “eliminated”.

One snowflake actually wrote about how he feared that volunteer firefighters would not show up to rescue someone of a different political point of view. To make matters worse, the Editor of the New Jersey Herald – a newspaper that has a number of good writers – came out in support of the IRS complaint against the volunteers and repeated this same nonsense.

Well here is a newsflash for that snowflake… and for the Editor of the New Jersey Herald: The membership organizations of paid firefighters endorse candidates for public office ALL THE TIME – every year, every election, every office. So does the PBA and the FOP for the police. They take sides… and send money. Is anyone concerned that these formal endorsements will affect the services they provide? Has the Editor of the New Jersey Herald ever expressed concern about this?

And how often does Governor Phil Murphy use law enforcement as props at political announcements? He orders them to stand behind him when he comes out with nonsense like the Sanctuary State directive which law enforcement plainly believes is dangerous. The Governor is not a police officer or a firefighter but he uses them for politics, pure and simple.

How many political organizations have a non-profit side to go with their political action committees and lobbying organizations? There are literally hundreds that operate in New Jersey. People like George Soros and the Koch Brothers have created political empires while hiding vast fortunes in so-called “non-profits” that are little more than a means for them to shape policy and get their way (and make more money). But there are lots of smaller lobby/political operations disguised as “non-profits” too. They keep just this side of the letter of the law, mostly, while grossly violating the spirit of the law. Where is the outrage?

The group Action Together New Jersey claims that it is a non-profit. Most of the leadership of the Sussex County Democrats belong to it. It is a shadowy, far-Left group, but you won’t read about what it gets up to in the New Jersey Herald.

On February 10, 2018, Action Together New Jersey accepted an award from Linda Sarsour. Among those accepting the award was Action Together New Jersey’s Sussex County Co-Chair. Linda Sarsour was recently kicked out of the Women’s March for her anti-Semitism.

Sarsour is a controversial Democrat activist who has praised the notoriously anti-Semitic Louis Farrakhan, cop-killer Joanne Chesimard, and the anti-Semitic BDS movement. In 2017, Sarsour famously called for “Jihad” against the elected government of the United States of America…

The award that the Sussex County Co-Chair picked-up was in recognition of the political campaigning done by Action Together New Jersey in coordination with a group called CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Presenting the award was CAIR National Chairwoman, Roula Allouch, and CAIR-NJ Founder, Ahmed Al Shehab.

Due to its apparent ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, one of America’s most important Islamic allies – the United Arab Emirates – has designated CAIR a terrorist organization.

The New Jersey Herald actually covered an event organized by Action Together and CAIR – a pro-Sanctuary State rally on Newton Green – but nobody mentioned that the group was officially designated a “terrorist” organization. And it is an Islamic nation that gave CAIR the designation. An Islamic nation in which American military personnel are currently serving in peril to their lives – our neighbors, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers. We think that’s important. We think you should be aware of that. There are those in the media who would sooner suppress that information.

Action Together New Jersey is in the forefront of the drive to push the Democrat Party in New Jersey to the far-Left. They even bash other Democrats who get in the way of their agenda. For instance, they have joined CAIR in opposing the bi-partisan efforts of New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-5) to push back on members of the so-called “Jihad Squad” (far-Left Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib) in their attempt to promote the anti-Semitic BDS movement. It’s a fact. There was a vote taken. You might not read about it. But there it is.

If the Democrats and their allies succeed in breaking the backs of the volunteer firefighters in one community in Sussex County, what will happen? Will the current trained firefighters be “removed” as the Democrats have asked? And who will they be replaced by, the next time a fire happens, or some other emergency? A paid department that will require a large property tax hike?

And curiously enough, that new paid department will have a membership organization that will most certainly ENDORSE POLITICAL CANDIDATES and write checks to political campaigns. Then you will have both higher property taxes and real political activity to contend with, not the one-off expression of a group of un-paid volunteers having some fun at THEIR event that they earned by risking their lives again and again and again.

The far-Left is on the march, taking over or destroying every community organization and service in its path, pushing out common sense and fiscal responsibility. The Action Together New Jersey crew represents the very radical far-Left of the Democrat Party – and it has taken over the Sussex County Democrat Committee.

Democrats infiltrated by far-Left group aligned with Linda Sarsour and CAIR

In another excellent piece in the New Jersey Herald, reporter Eric Obernauer gets to the bottom of who the Democrats’ write-in candidate for Sussex County Freeholder is:

She has twice been featured in New Jersey Herald articles showcasing her participation in the Women's March in Washington, D.C., where she praised Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a rising star in the liberal activist wing of the Democratic Party, in January for a speech she said was “filled with passion and thought-provoking inspiration.”

Lavin also has been an advocate for gun control legislation and, in July, participated in a “Lights for Liberty” vigil at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Elizabeth, where she and other members of the group Action Together Sussex County protested the detention of undocumented migrant children.

Yep, another member of the far-Left group Action Together.  But it doesn’t end with the Democrats’ write-in candidate Kristy Lavin (alias Kristy Schaid).   She is just the latest indication that the Democrat Party in New Jersey is becoming dominated by Action Together, which has officially embraced the insanely ruinous economic policies of  Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.

Action Together New Jersey has no less than eight members running as the official legislative candidates of the Democrat Party…

On February 10, 2018, Action Together New Jersey accepted an award from Linda Sarsour.  Accepting the award was Action Together New Jersey’s Executive Director, Uyen “Winn” Khuong; Action Together New Jersey’s Sussex County Co-Chair, Johannah Hinksmon; and Action Together New Jersey’s Director of Operations, Kim Baron.

Linda Sarsour is the controversial Democrat activist who has praised the notoriously anti-Semitic Louis Farrakhan, cop-killer Joanne Chesimard, and the anti-Semitic BDS movement.  In 2017, Sarsour famously called for “Jihad” against the elected government of the United States of America…

These include Katie Rotondi, the new Chairwoman of the Sussex County Democrat Committee. Also listed as members on the group’s website are Democrat State Committee members Michele Van Allen and Ben Silva, Stanhope Councilman Anthony Riccardi, Sparta Board of Education member Kate Matteson, as well as a number of Democrat County Committee members.

Also listed on the website are Action Together New Jersey members who failed as candidates for elected office. These include Jennifer Hamilton, who ran against State Senator Steve Oroho in 2017; former legislative candidate Gina Trish, who now holds an appointment from Governor Murphy’s administration; and several former candidates for town council or school board.

The far-Left is on the march, taking over the Democrat Party, pushing out common sense and fiscal responsibility. The Action Together New Jersey crew represents the very radical far-Left of the Democrat Party.

Sussex Democrat Chair’s “X-Rated” video

By Sussex County Watchdog

We believe in free expression.

The Sussex County Democrats do not.  State Democrats asked them to find something on the county Republican Chairman.  Murphy operative Leslie Huhn “friended” his Twitter page, and two days later the Sussex County Democrats’ Communications Director was in front of the Sussex County Community College Board of Trustees, asking that the Republican be fired.  It was a partisan political scam by people looking to be “offended” in order to score political points.

Worst still is the role played by SCCC Trustee Howard Burrell.  Last year, when Burrell wanted to be a trustee, this website wrote in support of him.  Burrell gave his word of honor that he would not be political while a member of the college board.  Then he sat there while he was running for Mayor of Vernon.  He didn’t even disclose that he was campaigning when he took a vote against the Republican Chairman.  Just days later, he campaigned at a Democrat political event with the very Democrats who slashed education funding in Sussex County.  An ethical person would have recused himself from taking that vote.  But not Burrell.

The question is:  Why didn’t SCCC Trustee Chairman Bill Curcio ask Burrell to recuse himself?  Why did Curcio and the board allow the college to be used this way – to sink into partisan politics?

Yes, we believe in free expression… but hypocrisy needs to be addressed too.

Katie Rotondi, the Sussex County Democrat Chairwoman, has led the stalking of other people’s social media pages.  She and her fellow stalkers have found things to be “offended” by and have demanded that people be punished.  But has anyone looked at what she puts out?

She isn’t re-tweeting something by mistake.  She produces and edits this stuff.  She promotes it.  And there is a whole lot of it.  What follows is one of the milder examples of her stuff (and make sure no children are around to see this)…

https://vimeo.com/182943568

There are things in this video that many people in Sussex County would find to be offensive.  We highly doubt that we could get Bill Curcio and Howard Burrell and the other members of the SCCC Board of Trustees to read out some of the lines in this video.  They would be too embarrassed to do so… although we might just show up and ask them to.

The SCCC trustees essentially allowed the Sussex Democrat Chairwoman to script their proceedings.  With the help of the SCCC’s newly hired Democrat law firm – a major funder of state Democrat campaigns – Rotondi and the state Democrats used the college to implement a political strategy that actually involved one of their trustees as a Democrat candidate.  This is a very serious ethical issue for the college.

In the midst of turkey vulvas and facial treatments and peeing on desks, we think this video should be reworked to show footage of the trustees… you know, talking and reacting and stuff like that.   After all, they allowed themselves to become part of Katie Rotondi’s body of work, so they should be part of her reel.  Call it performance art.

Stay tuned…

Hey Democrats, quit minding other people’s business!

Katie Rotondi wants to be the Madame Defarge of Sussex County politics. Since becoming Chairwoman of the Sussex County Democrats, she has led stalking parties against her neighbors in Sussex County.

Like Charles Dickens’ villain in A Tale of Two Cities, Rotondi operates out of hatred towards those who disagree with her “revolution” and revenge on Sussex County for having voted for Donald Trump. As she can’t stalk everyone, Rotondi focuses on high profile figures in Sussex County as symbols of all of Sussex County.

Rotondi stalks them, finds something to be offended about, whips her mob into a frenzy, and then demands that her victim is removed. This metaphorical “beheading” was the ultimate fate of those victims of mass persecution during the French Revolution. Their only “crime” was to fail to think or speak in line with how the Katie Rotondies of the world want everyone to think and speak.

It is what Rowan Atkinson calls, “The creeping culture of censoriousness.” Others have called it, “The new intolerance.” It is an attempt to straight jacket thought and speech.

This loss of Freedom is happening all around the world. Indeed, for the first time in recent memory, there is an authoritarian, anti-freedom, economic success story to counter all those arguments put forward by the democracies that prosperity and liberty go hand in hand. There is another way for an economy to prosper, and that is the Chinese Communist way of social credit authoritarianism.

Do we, as Americans, want to go down that road?

Many countries have criminalized opinions that we all once took for granted. Think of our bullying laws run amok and you will have some idea of what it is like to live in a country in which giving “offense” has been criminalized. Some nations, like the United Kingdom, have started to break down those laws and restore freedoms that Americans, for the moment, still possess…

The question for Americans is this: Is the rise of our informal system of punishment really any better than the European criminalization of giving “offense”? Are extra-legal lynch mobs preferable to due process and formal adjudication?

Perhaps the way forward is as Rowan Atkinson prescribes: More speech.
