Why does Alan Steinberg think he’s more relevant than Chris Christie?

Chris Christie is a twice-elected Governor of New Jersey.  The first time, he whipped a multi-millionaire incumbent.  Christie was re-elected in a landslide – a huge landslide – in a blue state.  Chris Christie was a wildly successful federal prosecutor who shortened the careers and ended the thievery of a plethora of political scumbags.  He’s run for office on a local level, served as a county freeholder, and as a candidate for President of the United States.  Christie’s perspective is broad.  His understanding is precise, because he knows, he was there, he lived it.
 
So who is Alan Steinberg?

Well, he tells you.  At the bottom of his InsiderNJ columns, he writes: “Alan Steinberg served as Regional Administrator of Region 2 EPA during the administration of former President George W. Bush and as Executive Director of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.”
 
According to him then, his skill was at getting those in power to reward him with a job.  That generally requires a certain degree of arse-suckery.
 
Alan Steinberg is a Christine Todd Whitman ex-Republican.  Steinberg writes for a blog owned and operated by an associate of Hillary Clinton who runs a corporation that gets insurance contracts from government entities.  This associate is a national Democrat fundraiser. 
 
In a recent column, Alan Steinberg questions Chris Christie’s “relevancy” and then begins to examine Christie’s “character flaws” – while lauding the character of the Democrat incumbent, Phil Murphy.  Steinberg claims that “bullying” is one of Christie’s character flaws, ignoring the fact that “bullying” appears synonymous with “Governor” in the state of New Jersey.

Name for us, Alan, a Governor of New Jersey who wasn’t a “bully”?  Why even Steinberg’s beloved Christine Todd Whitman was a bully – memorably so when she successfully silenced a young female staffer who had made a claim of sexual harassment against one of her top female appointments.  And we don’t recall you making a peep about it, Alan.
 
As for this current Governor – who hasn’t he bullied?  Before siding with those who wish to defund them, Murphy set police on places of worship, using men with guns to stifle freedom of conscience.  While his administration forces local school boards to accept a curriculum that teaches anal sex to eighth graders – in direct contradiction to CDC warnings about the dangers of this sexual practice.
 
Now we all know that Establishment types won’t label Murphy a bully for this, because Establishment types don’t particularly care for religion, or conscience, for that matter.  In fact, freedom of conscience gets directly in the way of their profits from Big Pharma.  You know, those guys who preached opioids and who stand to make a profit from all those eighth graders who practice what they’re taught and end up requiring a lifetime of care.
 
Steinberg goes on to accuse Christie of “irrepressible ambition”.  Well, so what?  Alan, you are guilty of the same ambition – you just lack the talent of a Chris Christie.  Unless you are a lazy slacker (our compatriot, Rubashov, comes to mind) every sociopath operating in politics is a quivering mass of ambition, not knowing where to store it all, bursting.  Where you, Alan, differ from Christie is that you couldn’t convince anyone to believe in you.  Chris Christie is plausible.  You make people want to run to the shitter.  
 
According to Alan Steinberg, these “flaws” he ascribes to Chris Christie are dwarfed by Christie’s greatest flaw (in Steinberg’s view):  His support for Donald Trump.   In Steinberg’s view, Trump is an uniquely “evil” man.
 
Just what makes Trump “evil” (according to Steinberg)?  Well, first, Donald Trump is a “philandering husband.”  So says Alan Steinberg, who – if we recall correctly – worked for a certain legislative leader who was pretty darn adept at that philandering stuff.  Yep, it was a train wreck.
 
Oh, and Steinberg says Trump is a “contemptible misogynist.”  But rapist coddler Phil Murphy is a good guy?  Heck, didn’t Governor McGreevey hire someone to bang his old lady?  Wasn’t that kind of like misogyny?  And they made him a priest!    
     
Steinberg says Trump is “a vile white Supremacist, hateful of people of color.”  Hey Alan, weren’t you working for Governor Whitman when she did that stop and frisk grab-ass photo-op?  Was that cool?  Or was it vile and racist?  You tell us.

Steinberg writes: “While Christie had never been a racist, by virtue of his praise of Stephen Miller, Chris Christie becomes an enabler of Stephen Miller racism.” 
 
Really?  So does that make you an enabler of all the people you knew or worked for who sexually harassed women – their female employees, interns even?  We’d think more of your words today, if you had written them then.     
 
And for his crescendo, Steinberg goes full blow-it-out-the-ass, writing: “Christie’s position on the Coronavirus was absolutely shocking in terms of its indifference to human suffering.”  Steinberg accuses Christie of membership in a “Trump Flat Earth Anti-Science Society.”
 
Wow.  You can’t beat this for hypocrisy.  Here is a member of the George W. Bush administration – the “Weapons of Mass Destruction Anti-Science Society” – trying to play holier than thou after cheerleading for the slaughter of over a million people, mainly civilians.  Indifference to human suffering?  How many children died for the lie your administration peddled?  How may dead Americans – and all those missing arms and legs and wounded minds and damaged souls?  What balls you have, Alan, to play like you are.
 
Get a little humility and understand that buying a mask from Amazon isn’t the same as being trained in the protocols of infection control.  Sure it should help, just like any prescription can help, until you misuse it.  Then it becomes a self-delusion, a religious garment meant to signal some goodness to the world, but nothing to do with containing a disease.

Columbus Day and the worst lynching in American history

Social media can be a smorgasbord of depravities.  The other day, we read a post by a self-proclaimed person “of color” who claimed that Jews were “privileged” and had not suffered as people “of color” had.  Apparently this wanker had missed the part about the Holocaust in his high school history class or the part in Sunday School about how Jews were slaves of the Egyptians.
 
Now it seems that the discrimination faced by Italian immigrants into the United States is also being lost down the memory hole of what was once called public education but increasing has become a form of madrasah, offering modern-day, woke ideological or religious indoctrination. 

Ask Senator Cory Booker to discuss lynching and he’ll talk for hours without ever once referring to the worst incidence of lynching in American history.  Is that because it happened to Italians?

On March 14, 1891, 11 Italians were lynched in New Orleans.  They were murdered by a mob for their alleged role in the death of a police officer.  They were lynched after they had been acquitted at trial.  One man was hauled outside, hanged from a lamppost, and shot.  Another was hanged from a tree and shot. Nine others were shot or clubbed to death inside the prison.  The bullet-riddled bodies of the two men were left hanging for hours.
 

The lynching took place the day after the trial of nine men indicted in the case.  Six of the defendants were acquitted, with a mistrial declared for the remaining three because the jury failed to agree on their verdicts.  The lynch mob numbered thousands and included some of the city's most prominent citizens, including a lawyer, local politicians (among them a future Governor), and the editor of the New Delta newspaper.  The mob that lynched the Italians even included some black residents, like Colonel James Lewis, a member of the elite Committee of Fifty and an officer in the Louisiana militia.
 
Mainstream American press coverage of the event was largely congratulatory.  A Boston Globe front-page headline read, "STILETTO RULE: New Orleans Arose to Meet the Curse."  Those responsible for the lynching were never charged.
 
But hey, it gets in the way of the current narrative – that all people of a certain skin tone are “privileged” and have always been “privileged” simply because of that skin tone thing.  Of course, the truth is a bit more complicated than are the certainties offered by the evangelists of BLM and Antifa.  Writing of the Anti-Italian sentiment in New Orleans, Wikipedia notes:
 
In late 19th-century America, there was a growing prejudice against Italians, although they were recruited to satisfy the demand for cheap labor. They were immigrating to the American South, particularly Florida and Louisiana, in large numbers because of poor conditions at home and to fill the shortage of cheap labor created by the end of slavery and the preference of freedmen to work on their own accounts as sharecroppers. Sugar planters, in particular, sought workers who were more compliant than former slaves; they hired immigrant recruiters to bring Italians to southern Louisiana. In the 1890s, thousands of Italians were arriving in New Orleans each year. Many settled in the French Quarter, which by the early 20th century became known as "Little Sicily."
 
…New Orleans Mayor Joseph A. Shakspeare expressed the common anti-Italian prejudice, complaining that the city had become attractive to "...the worst classes of Europe: Southern Italians and Sicilians...the most idle, vicious, and worthless people among us."  He claimed they were "filthy in their persons and homes" and blamed them for the spread of disease, concluding that they were "without courage, honor, truth, pride, religion, or any quality that goes to make a good citizen."
 
Wow… and people today claim about coded words and dog-whistling???

Say their names!  Antonio Bagnetto, James Caruso, Loreto Comitis, Rocco Geraci, Joseph P. Macheca, Antonio Marchesi, Pietro Monasterio, Emmanuele Polizzi, Frank Romero, Antonio Scaffidi, and Charles Traina.

And remember their “privilege” when pandering politicians talk about destroying the monuments to Italian-American culture in America – like those statues to Christopher Columbus, paid for with money collected by Italian-American children. 

Which brings up another point about the BLM/Antifa gang:  Why do they hate art so much that they seek to destroy it?  The sculpture they rip down is the work of artists and craftsmen.  But instead of replacing one piece of art with another, they destroy art and leave the space empty… without art. 
 
Hank Bukowski was right to warn against such preachers…

And we cannot close without a mention of Congressman Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat, who seems to be channeling some of what that New Orleans mayor, a fellow Democrat, was on about. 

Gottheimer’s campaign has been pushing that old trope linking a certain looking Italian with criminality.  The Gottheimer campaign – 

through direct mail paid for by the Democrat State Committee – has been darkening up the image of opponent Frank Pallotta

and labeling him a “fraudster” for simply working on Wall Street at around the time of the 2008 meltdown.  By “dirtying-up” and darkening Pallotta’s image, Gottheimer invites voters to make the stereotype of the Italian mafioso – long established in the popular imagination of Americans.    
 
Pallotta’s Sicilian good looks aids Gottheimer and the Democrat State Committee in their frankly racist attempt to imply that people who look like Pallotta are criminals or somehow linked to criminal behavior (the Mafia?), as the word “fraudster” plainly indicates.  This has long been part of the eastern Establishment lexicon.  Consider this

New York Times editorial from March 16, 1891:    “These sneaking and cowardly Sicilians, the descendants of bandits and assassins, who have transported to this country the lawless passions, the cut-throat practices, and the oath-bound societies of their native country, are to us a pest without mitigation. Our own rattlesnakes are as good citizens as they... Lynch law was the only course open to the people of New Orleans.”

They got acquitted, so we need to kill them.  A bit like “no justice, no peace”?

Did the New York Times ever apologize for that piece of racism?  Will anyone ask them to apologize?

Wikipedia notes that “most anti-Italian hostility in the United States was directed at Southern Italians, particularly Sicilians.  This was especially true in the American South, where Southern Italians were not considered full-fledged members of the ‘white race’.  The U.S. Bureau of Immigration reinforced this distinction, classifying Northern and Southern Italians as two different races.  Between 1890 and 1910, Sicilians made up less than 4 percent of the white male population, yet were roughly 40 percent of the white victims of southern lynch mobs.  Before that, many white victims were ethnic Irish. They often had peripheral positions, working on construction of levees and railroads, and as farm workers.”
 
Well, it appears that a staple of Establishment hatred continues in America – the hatred of Italians and especially Sicilians.  Long fanned by the media and the entertainment industry, heavily ladled over political campaigns… and now politicians and their mobs are coming to pull down your statues and erase the memory of your ethnic struggle. 
 
Look on the bright side.  At least the New York Times isn’t editorializing that the mob lynch anyone… not yet, anyway.

Gottheimer attacks constituents to deflect his failures on COVID

Yesterday, Congressman Josh Gottheimer posted an attack on social media against a group of his constituents who have criticized him for not holding Governor Phil Murphy to account for sending COVID-19 patients into nursing homes – a move which resulted in the deaths of 7,000 vulnerable residents.  Gottheimer has refused to even mention Murphy’s infamous Executive Order 103, which forced nursing homes to bring in COVID carriers even as they kept out family members – leaving those in nursing homes to die alone.
 
Gottheimer attacked these Sussex County residents, claiming they had used “hurtful language” about members of the LGBT community.  This is a reference to the residents’ opposition to Democrat Freeholder candidate Rob Slockbower and his support for requiring the LGBT “rainbow flag” to fly over all government buildings in Sussex County.  Slockbower, calls himself “non-binary” and posts controversial material on his social media page, side-by-side with political campaign material…
 

While Rob Slockbower has the right to post his views, we find it strange that Congressman Gottheimer has no problem embracing Slockbower's candidacy while he accuses Sussex County residents who disagree with Democrat Slockbower of using “hurtful language”.  It is a very strange double-standard.
 
Even more strange is the fact that in 2006, Josh Gottheimer became the number two executive (Global Vice President) with a public relations/lobbying firm that worked for the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.  According to Wikipedia, Museveni attempted to “institute the death penalty for homosexuality” and claimed that "European homosexuals are recruiting in Africa".  Museveni later backed off the death penalty and instead Uganda imposed a potential penalty of life imprisonment for "aggravated homosexuality".
 
How could Josh Gottheimer have taken money from a firm with a record like this, and then attack his own constituents when they disagree with his Democrat allies over the mandatory display of LGBT flags on government buildings?  It is a stunning example of political hypocrisy by Gottheimer.
