Spadea promotes Guadagno at LGBT PAC fundraiser

So Bill Spadea brought super-far-left Democrat Jay Lassiter onto his show to promote Kim Guadagno attending a fundraising event for New Jersey's top PAC involved in pushing a far-left social agenda. 

Corporations such as banking giant PNC and Prudential insurance paid as much as $20,000 to host the event -- so don't ever try to claim "otherness" for the LGBT cause -- it is the latest fashion statement by the Establishment, pure and simple.  Corporate backers aside, the ticket price for ordinary people is $250.00.

Our biggest gripe with Garden State Equality is that they oppose democracy.  Instead of leaving important issues to the voters, they lobby to have the unelected judiciary decide for us and then to push major social changes down our throats.  If the TTF and Bail Reform were such big issues that they needed to be placed on the ballot as Public Questions -- why not Same-Sex Marriage? 

We also object to the never-satisfied, unending outrage that flows from the mouths and pens of Garden State Equality.  Needing a cause to sustain the flow of money that keeps their professional activists in pocket money, no sooner one undemocratic victory is wrapped up, they are on to the next "outrage" that must be corrected.  And so within months after same-sex marriage we have the endlessly boring "outrage" over adult males who "identify" as females not being allowed to swing their schwantz in the little girls' toilet.  Really?  Can't we as people work this out... community by community... with a wink and a nod to some (who we know, love, and tolerate), but without the totality that allows a predator in with the teenage girls?

We have been warned about this kind of "totality" before, in another context, by that good liberal, Mrs. Lillian Smith.  A Southern writer, she was a pioneer in the battle to end segregation.  We recommend her book, The Winner Names the Age.  In it, you will find this passage she wrote when she accepted the Charles S. Johnson Award for her work:

“It is his millions of relationships that will give man his humanity… It is not our ideological rights that are important but the quality of our relationships with each other, with all men, with knowledge and art and God that count.

The civil rights movement has done a magnificent job but it is now faced with the ancient choice between good and evil, between love for all men and lust for a group’s power.”

“Every group on earth that has put ideology before human relations has failed; always disaster and bitterness and bloodshed have come.  This movement, too, may fail.  If it does, it will be because it aroused in men more hate than love, more concern for their own group than for all people, more lust for power than compassion for human need.”

“We must avoid the trap of totalism which lures a man into thinking there is only one way, one answer, one option, and that others must be forced into this One Way, and forced into it Now.”

Erick Erickson and Bill Blankschaen recently published a book called "You Will Be Made to Care" about the threat posed by groups like Garden State Equality to the right of every human being to think as he or she chooses and the freedom to express those thoughts.  Along those same lines, although much more powerfully written, is "Submission" by Michel Houellebecq.  It is a reminder of how easy it is to conform, and by conforming, to lose the freedom of one's own conscience.

If you think that you can be a modern Amish today, that you can opt out and be left alone, that doesn't appear likely.  To date, there has been a certain lack of generosity by the winners of these cultural battles.  In every state where same-sex marriage was legalized, people of conscience who objected to participating in someone else's "celebration" were targeted and made to pay for their dissent.  After the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in every state, what did the winning side do?  It started talking about stripping religious organizations of their tax exempt status.

Groups like Garden State Equality do not look for compromise or for tolerance.  They want hegemony.  The totalism warned against by Lillian Smith... "one way, one answer, one option, and that others must be forced into this One Way, and forced into it Now."

For this reason, they must be opposed by all free-thinkers.  For this reason, we note our disappointment in those so-called Republican leaders who promote and support Garden State Equality.

The dishonest attacks on Congressman Garrett

The reason America's politicians are so dishonest is because establishment opinion DEMANDS that they be dishonest.  Look at what happened to Congressman Scott Garrett when he raised the question as to why a party that opposes same-sex marriage actively recruits candidates who support same-sex marriage.  You can read for yourself here the official position of the Republican Party of the United States of America:

"Congressional Republicans took the lead in enacting the Defense of Marriage Act, affirming the right of States and the federal government not to recognize same-sex relationships licensed in other jurisdictions. The current Administration's open defiance of this constitutional principle--in its handling of immigration cases, in federal personnel benefits, in allowing a same-sex marriage at a military base, and in refusing to defend DOMA in the courts--makes a mockery of the President's inaugural oath. We commend the United States House of Representatives and State Attorneys General who have defended these laws when they have been attacked in the courts. We reaffirm our support for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. We applaud the citizens of the majority of States which have enshrined in their constitutions the traditional concept of marriage, and we support the campaigns underway in several other States to do so."

As we can see, it wasn't really out of line for an inquiring mind to ask why a political party that adopted the position above would be activity recruiting candidates who opposed that position.  The Defense of Marriage Act, around which the Republican Party organized its position was passed in the United States House of Representatives with 342 members of congress -- 224 Republicans and 118 Democrats -- voting yes.  Only 65 Democrats and 1 Republican voted against it.  In the Senate it passed with the support of 84 Senators.  32 Democrats joined every Republican in voting for it.  Only 14 Democrats opposed it.  Bernie Sanders, then an Independent Socialist member of Congress voted against the Defense of Marriage Act.  President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, proudly signed it into law.

First Lady Hillary Clinton stood by her man.  A few years later, when she was an elected official herself, the beautifully coiffed United States Senator from New York took an unmistakably conservative position on same-sex marriage.

"I believe marriage is not just a bond but a sacred bond between a man and a woman. I have had occasion in my life to defend marriage, to stand up for marriage, to believe in the hard work and challenge of marriage.

We wonder which Clinton speechwriter wrote those words?  Was it the one who is now running for Congress against Scott Garrett?  The one filling his campaign coffers with money from what Vermont's Senator Bernie Sanders calls "corrupt Wall Street operators"?

If you are a supporter of this Clinton speechwriter or of Clinton for President don't think that you are going to get away with criticizing Congressman Scott Garrett for holding the same position you held until you collected millions in contributions from pro-LGBT corporations and lobbyists who commissioned  polling to show that you could safely execute a flip-flop on the issue.  That's not being a statesman.  That's just allowing yourself to be bribed.  Think Steve Sweeney:  New Jersey's Senate President, south Jersey political machine apparatchik, sometime lobbyist for the Ironworkers Union (also known as "the church burners"), and flip-flopper extraordinaire -- when the price is right.

The ONLY people who have the intellectual honesty to criticize Congressman Garrett are those who support the United States Senator from the great State of Vermont, the former Mayor of Burlington and Chairman of the Liberty Union Party, Bernie Sanders.  THEY have the standing to criticize Congressman Garrett -- not the imperial Clintons or their paid mouthpiece.

The hypocrisy of those who support the imperial Clintons and their speechwriter is beginning to show signs of wear.  Supporters of the Clinton speechwriter recently went on line to criticize Congressman Garrett's attempt to make nice to the LGBT community.  One such creature claimed to be a college professor and advanced an argument both illogical and illiberal.  He says that because Garrett holds today the same view that Bill and Hillary and Barack and most elected Democrats held yesterday, he has no right to even hold office and should resign immediately and not run again.  Who would want to be in his class?  You know this so-called "educator" would likely fail you if you disagreed with him, even if he was disagreeing with the position he held only yesterday.

The imperial Clintons and their lackeys must not be allowed to advance their hypocritical line of attack against an honorable public servant like Congressman Scott Garrett.  Hold them to account.

Murray: "Exceptionally low Republican turnout"

Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute:  "We saw an exceptionally low Republican turnout this year." (NJ Spotlight, November 6, 2015)

"Exceptionally low Republican turnout" shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who watched the messaging in this year's legislative elections.  Many of our challengers did not carry a consistently Republican message on issues like abortion, funding Planned Parenthood, same-sex marriage, and the Second Amendment.  This was either because they did not support the "Republican" position on these issues or because they chose not to address one or more of these issues.

N.B.  The "Republican" position on these issues is not a matter of opinion.  It is a matter of official Republican Party policy as defined in the democratically adopted Platform of the Republican National Committee, ratified in 2012.  That document  can be accessed here:

So despite receiving extra funding from the state party, Republican challengers like John Traier failed to excite even Republican voters.  Traier failed to carry the swing town of Clifton, falling 800 votes behind the top Democrat, where the GOP candidate for County Clerk had won the town by 500 votes, the year before.

According to the data we've seen, the state's top three issues are property taxes, jobs, and education.  But despite the efforts of Senator Mike Doherty and the writings of Paul Mulshine, the NJGOP had no clear, joined-up program to address issues like property taxes and education funding -- with the result many of our candidates intentionally or by happenstance veered away from these concerns and onto secondary ones like "women's issues."  This proved disastrous for two Republican incumbents in District 11.

Republican candidates would have been far better off to have followed Senator Doherty's advice this year.  Doherty advised making the inequitable school funding system, imposed by the unelected State Supreme Court, the issue.  Not only does the Court make a lie of the purpose for which the income tax was enacted, but it forces economically disadvantaged families living outside the so-called "Abbott Districts" to subsidize the property taxes of the rich corporations and wealthy professionals within those districts -- while it cheats rural and suburban children out of funding to cover the cost of even a third world education.

The brilliance of Senator Doherty's plan lay in who it challenged as much as what it challenged.  Doherty went after an unelected Court in Trenton and corrupt school district administrations in areas that Republicans don't win anyway.  In contrast, the message laid out early in the year by Governor Chris Christie went after powerful networks within every Republican district in the state -- police, firefighters, teachers, etc.

By targeting these groups and their supporters, the Governor's messaging ensured that every Republican legislator and every challenger had determined enemies in every legislative district, every municipality, and every election district in the state.  This messaging practically aborted the candidacy of the challenger in District 2. 

Columnist Paul Mulshine warned about the effects Governor's Christie's messaging would have on the electorate, but he was tragically ignored.  In fact, Mulshine has been so right about so much over the years, that the NJGOP would do well to simply hire him away from the Star-Ledger and make him the party's top thinker.  A few years ago Mulshine's messaging was adopted and used to great effect -- so a demonstration project exists in which Republicans beat historically well-funded Democrats by just by following Paul Mulshine's messaging prescriptions (more on this later).  And Senator Mike Doherty's education funding plan is based on Mulshine's writings as well.

While there still are Republican legislators, Senator Mike Doherty's plan and writer Paul Mulshine's messaging need to be considered and adopted whole or in part by GOP legislative leaders.  Because we could be in for worse in 2017.
