Poor Carlos Rendo gets used, swallows McCann's B.S.

Poor Carlos Rendo... he got leaned on by Bergen GOP boss Paulie DiGaetano and   now he's been made to endorse John McCann, who the Bergen Record called "the right-hand man" to Democrat Sheriff Michael Saudino.  Well that's a real shame.

In his release, the hapless Rendo repeats word for word the same DCCC talking points that McCann shares with Democrat incumbent Josh Gottheimer.  For instance, there are comedic bits like this:  "I have gotten to know John and what he stands for and he is the only candidate with an actual record of putting taxpayers first."  This is vintage Gottheimer -- just switched the names!

Oh, and the way in which both McCann and Gottheimer "put the taxpayers first" was to put them first in line to pay for more Democrat-led government.  Both McCann and Gottheimer played key roles in turning once "red" Bergen County a very deep "blue".

On behalf of McCann, Carlos Rendo parrots the following howlers:

(1) "The State PBA has acknowledged John (McCann) as the 'driving force' behind the police merger in Bergen County..."

Actually, the State PBA issued a press release attacking John McCann for his role in helping the Bergen Democrat party bosses empire-build at the expense of law enforcement and community protection.  Here's what the President of the Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA) had to say about John McCann:

"Over the years, we have gotten to know John McCann very well.  Well enough, in fact, to know that he is the wrong person to represent the interests of the law enforcement community in Congress.  Our members proudly serve our communities and face incredible risks and challenges on a daily basis.  Now more than ever, we need leaders who will fight to ensure first responders have the resources they need to stay safe, protect our residents, and prevent acts of terrorism."

(2) "He (McCann) received national recognition for playing a major role in killing the Clinton Healthcare Plan, saving not just the taxpayers of New Jersey, but saving Americans..."

What "national recognition"?  Where?  From whom?  The truth is less edifying.  McCann was a college intern in liberal Senator Arlen Specter's office.  At the direction of his superiors, John McCann claims to have made a graph.  That's right.  A graph.  And just like the typical self-important, overblown junior academic, he takes credit for the hard work of all those Senators and Congressman and Rush Limbaugh and talk radio and the medical professionals and all those thousands of conservative activists and all the reams of studies and research and opinion pieces and thousands of graphs of all those conservative and libertarian think tanks -- not to mention the Republican legal staffs of both the House and the Senate.  No mention of all them... it was "me" says McCann.  "Me and my graph... saved not just New Jersey... but America!"  Yeah, sounds like he gazed into that mirror a bit too long.

(3) "In 1995, McCann was the first to introduce the 2% tax cap on property taxes."

McCann he says he got the idea from reading about Proposition 2 1/2 in Massachusetts and Proposition 13 in California.  Now here is where his bullshit breaks down:

Proposition 2 1/2 was passed in Massachusetts in 1980 and went into effect in 1982.

Proposition 13 was passed in California in 1978 and went into effect immediately.

And John McCann wants us to believe that in all those years between 1978 and 1995, nobody (let's say that again) nobody had the idea to try it in New Jersey???

In fact, there were a plethora of newspaper stories discussing caps in New Jersey as low as 1 1/2 percent nearly a decade before McCann claims to have thought of it.  There was even a ballot question on the issue in Bergen County.

We've had enough of Stumbling John McCann's antics.  McCann's bullshit stinks to high heaven and Carlos Rendo should be ashamed to repeat it.

John McCann: "I got to stop drinking in the morning"

Yep, that's what candidate John McCann said as he -- the candidate who hopes to take on Democrat Josh Gottheimer -- stumbled about, mistaking a rural Republican Sheriff for an urban Democrat Mayor.  That was his excuse, "...drinking in the morning."  No kidding.  It is in his video, posted on YouTube, about twelve minutes into his speech.  Well, if that's what the candidate says... we got to go with it.

Candidate John McCann is a shambolic mess.

John McCann melting.jpg

He launched a website the other day and who does it feature?  Yep, a leftist anti-Second Amendment mayor who blocked a gun range from being built in her town.  That's  what this idiot led with.   Amazing!  McCann's event was hosted by a member of the notorious Zisa family... yep, the liberal niece of far-left Democrat Loretta Weinberg's former running mate, up front, running the event for him.   Remarkable.

When he's not comparing himself to his mentor, the liberal Democrat-turned Republican-turned Democrat Arlen Specter, McCann is surrounding himself with the detritus of Christie "My Party Too" Whitman's administration -- some who have had the uncanny ability to remain in state employment during the regimes of liberal Democrats like Governors Jim McGreevey and Jon Corzine.  How did they manage to stay when so many loyal Republicans were fired?  Doubtless they will remain unaffected by the incoming administration of Phil Murphy.  How do they do it?

As a college intern (or "fellow" as he puts it) John McCann claims to have been responsible for ending Hillary Care... yep, all by himself.  You see, he got out his crayons and came up with... wait for it... a graph. Nope, not them... it was "me" says McCann.  Yeah, sounds a little whacky to us too.

He also steals credit for coming up with the 2 percent cap on property taxes, despite a plethora of newspaper stories discussing caps as low as 1 1/2 percent nearly a decade before he claims to have thought of it.  Now we're getting into Al Gore territory here.  What's next?  Will he take credit for inventing the Internet?  Or maybe he's the last survivor of the Battle of the Little Big Horn?  Who knows?  Perhaps John McCann is a time traveler?  Or maybe it's just that he can't sort out the truth from fiction?

whitman my party too 2.jpg

McCann actually mocks people who get involved in politics because they believe in something.  He's publicly eschewed right wing and left wing -- instead he came up with a new way to describe people like him:  The Chicken Wing of the GOP.  And what does the Chicken Wing stand for?  It stands for getting paid.  It is no big deal for a member of the Chicken Wing of the GOP to be employed by a Democrat office-holder.  The Chicken Wing exists to make its members some dough and they don't let principles or things like party loyalty or right and wrong get in the way of that.

McCann's candidacy seems to be designed by the Democrats and run by the Democrats to do nothing but screw up the Republican primary.

How so?  Remember the Democrats' reaction to Steve Lonegan's announcement?  They attacked him from the DCCC in Washington, DC, and from Gottheimer's home base in Wyckoff and they have kept on attacking him -- in emails, press releases, fundraising letters.  That's what you do when you face an opponent you are afraid of.

And what do the Democrats make of John McCann?  Not a word.  Not even a barely suppressed yawn.  Why should they?  As the Record noted in its opening story about him:  "John McCann, the attorney and longtime right-hand man to Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino."

That's Michael Saudino -- the Democrat Sheriff of Bergen County.  McCann is his right-hand man.  That's right, he is one of them.

Has McCann been put-up by Democrat Gottheimer?

Liberal Democrats are working overtime this year to damage Republicans' congressional chances next year.   In the 11th congressional district, liberals have found an out-of-district unaffiliated voter to become a Republican in order to challenge incumbent Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen in the GOP primary next June.  According to media reports, lawyer Martin Hewitt is running as a "moderate Republican" in order to challenge the national Republican Party platform.

The same thing looks to be happening in the neighboring 5th congressional district, where lawyer John McCann is also running as a "moderate Republican" in the tradition of Democrat turned Republican turned Democrat Arlen Specter.  McCann is a political patronage holding Republican who is employed by the elected Democrat Sheriff of Bergen County.

It was McCann who helped deliver Bergen County into the hands of the Democrat Party machine, splitting the party and helping to defeat the Republican County Executive there.  After that defeat, McCann responded to the Republican County Executive's claims that it was "traitors" within the GOP who caused Republicans to lose power in Bergen County.

John McCann's candidacy seems designed for failure.  Not only has he dropped out of the last two races he got into, but his recent problems with tax liens and such make him a very dubious choice.  This has led to speculation that he is the favored candidate of the Democrats and the candidate who incumbent liberal Democrat Josh Gottheimer would prefer to face in November 2018.

The Democrats have a real interest in controlling who runs against Congressman Gottheimer next year.  The liberal Democrat's district was carried by President Donald Trump and is decidedly Republican as well as a top target of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).  The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has acknowledged that it will be a challenge to keep Congressman Gottheimer's seat in their column in 2018.

So it makes all the sense in the world for the Democrats to help "engineer" who becomes Gottheimer's Republican challenger.  McCann, who is actually on the Democrats' payroll, appears to be their perfect choice.

This will be a drama worth watching.  So, as always, stay tuned...
